Following My Own Advise!

Following my own advise from my previous post, I created a January centerpiece vignette for the dining room table. The runner is stenciled burlap from Bella Inspirations.

Dressing up the paperwhites are birch "sleeves" from Pottery Barn, last year. Birch pillar candles keep with the theme.

Mercury glass hurricanes and candleholders add a little glamour to the rustic centerpiece.

My favorite mercury glass candleholder though is this one, a gift from my special friend and fellow blogger Netierose at After Glo Vintage Baubles.

I am glad to put away the Christmas greens and flowers. I've been waiting a while to use the burlap runner, and no doubt it will show up again in a future tablescape!

The hutch got a January makeover too. Gone is the red transferware, replaced by neutral brown tranferware and white ironstone. More mercury glass, this time as mini vases holding white flowers, leftovers from the Christmas arrangements.

In the living room, the mantel is a work in progress. I got rid of the dried up cedar garland, but kept the burlap for now.

A few family photos are a nice transition from the Christmas mantel decorations.

Later, I'll put away the burlap and photos and simplify the mantel for Spring.
I'm not even thinking of Spring yet, but learning to love the simple beauty of Winter in January.

I'm joining Marty for her 46th Tabletop Tuesday at A Stroll Thru Life.
I'm also joining Kim at Savvy Southern Style for her BTB Party for the first time.
Be sure and check out both blogs for lots of ideas and inspiration.

Dearest Delores,

Love the ochre-colored wall in combination with the candle light! Nothing gives a warmer glow, especially during winter time. Good taste!
Your Birch sleeves and birch candles make for such a natural setting too. Great idea to use them for such purpose! Birches are one of my favorite trees anyway.
You also use great common sense for displaying the 'out-lasting' flower heads from Christmas arrangements.
Enjoy your special table settings and stay warm and cozy for the time of year.
My spirit is with Papa's birthday today as he turned 90 in The Netherlands... just read my blog about him.

Dolores, thanks for inspiring us to get a move on and clear out the old and bring in the new. My, no moss gathers on you now, does it. Move, move, move. Bet it's a great way to stay in shape, and such a treat for the eyes once the changes are made. I rearranged the living room furniture today...I love when my husband says "hey, did you move that again???"

Delores, I appreciate you joining the party. I clicked on your link and it doesn't work. I know others will want to look at it. For some reason the url starts out just tp instead of http so it isn't linking. I am going to delete it and would love for you to relink.

I just stumbled upon your site. What a lucky day for me. I LOVE your style. Such an inspiration during this dreary Michigan winter. Your collection of honey bee items is absolutely beautiful. My husband and I started raising bees two years ago; you have tempted me into starting a collection of "bee stuff" myself. Thank you and keep posting such great information and photos.

The natural elements of your tablescape are simply lovely.

That woodsy deep quality is perfect for the January blahs.

A reminder of the stark beauty of winter and the promise of spring.

Just found your blog and it looks great. I also am a tartan, toile, and leopard lover! I really like the contrast in your centerpiece between the mercury glass, birch bark and burlap. Very beautiful! I look forward to following your blog in the coming year.

Happy New Year!
I love how you
have made the transition
from Christmas to
just WINTER in your
home. I especially
like the mantle. I
saw the movie The
King's Speech when it
came out and there is
a scene with a fireplace
mantle full of pics that
inspired me to do the
same.
Happy Wednesday!

Your table is so warm and inviting! I just love the birch sleeves! And the mercury glass. I just postd a white tablescape with mercury glass candleholders. Don't you just love the soft silver shimmer they give off?
Your runner was made for that table! It is so chic and gives a soft comfortable feel!
Your home is gorgeous, and rich and every detail is so wonderfully thought out!
As usual, I am so inspired!
