Hunting and Gathering at Candlestick Park

Northern California's newest antique fair is held at Candlestick Park, home of the San Francisco 49ers. BFF Maureen and I went yesterday, and had a great day of doing what we love to do more than anything: hunting and gathering!

We both ended up finding our treasures within the first half hour!

Maureen considered this pair of lamps, but ended up walking away from them. I was lusting after the angel in the birdcage. Actually, the birdcage was calling my name too!

What I did buy from this dealer though is this pair of candlesticks.

Maureen fell in love with this "fake" trumeau mirror. The dealer said it came out of a hotel and was probably from the 40's. Priced right, she bought it without hesitation!

Close up of the linen scene on the mirror.
I could have arm wrestled her for this! But she had the perfect place for it, and I didn't!
I can't wait to see where this ends up in her home.

The popular antique linen and pillow dealer was there.
I was tempted to buy this adorable pillow for the granddaughters....

Uh oh! How cute are these tartan slippers?

Another favorite dealer has lots of wool and flannel shirts, mostly from Pendleton.

A nice pair of botanical prints.

Just enough rusty, crusty stuff to look at!

The Candlestick Park Antiques and Collectibles Faire is held on the third Sunday of the month...

...Unless it's football season.
Not yet as big as the Alameda Antique Faire across the Bay, I have no doubt that it eventually will be.

My candlesticks from Candlestick Park now have a new home!

  16. Dearest Delores,

That proved to be a day where the word 'JIT' Just In Time proved to be valuable for you and your friend Maureen!
If one has a space for such a faux Trumea mirror; perfect.
Your candle sticks seem to have settled in very well already.
Enjoy your treasures and have a great week!

  17. Delores -
I'd love to take you to Scott's Antique show that is held the second weekend (FSS) of each month. There are between two and four thousand dealers each month, depending on the weather (many can set up outside). Let me know if you're able to go. I'd love to see what your fabulous eye would leave with.

  21. Those candlesticks are gorgeous on your table, Delores! Those were meant for your home. I wish I'd known about this antique faire. I'll have to go another Sunday. My girlfriend got me those Tartan slippers for Christmas. I opened them and thought to myself, "Oh, Delores would love these". I've never met you in person but instantly thought of you from your love of tartan posts. I adore that angel! She's beautiful! Do you know what vendor was selling her?

  28. Delores,
Awesome candlesticks! Glad to know about the flea market too! This week, while I was perusing my local thrift store,(where I go to "search and rescue" the remnants and cast-offs of the lifesyles of the rich and famous) I came upon a pair of crystal candlesticks. Picked 'em up for $5 for the pair. Got home and noticed a "Tiffany & Co." mark. Looked up online. Candlesticks were "Tiffany" and were $160.00 for the pair! Score! I will going back to that thrift store real soon! Just thought I'd share my candlestick story! Cindy D.
