The 2012 Christmas Tree(s)

 The 2012 Christmas Tree!

After days of searching for the Christmas lights, I finally remembered that we threw them all away last year when we took down the tree!  Really?  We did?
They say how a person deals with tangled Christmas tree lights tells a lot about them.
Don't judge!

So, off I went to OSH for lights.
Not only were they all 30% off, but practically everything was, including these little red lanterns.
I bought five to tuck in to the tree.  Battery operated votives keep the house from burning down!

This year, I used the same burlap ribbon that I used on the outside garland to circle the tree.

Not as many ornaments as previous years, just my precious Santa collection...

... and a few chosen ornaments, like this new tartan star from JoAnn's Fabrics.

And this old one that I "love!"

This is the first year I decorated the whole tree by myself.
Usually Mr. A puts the lights on, but I couldn't wait another week for his schedule to clear up!
It is definitely a man's job, and I did a crummy job.

But made up for it with the decorations?

The family room got a little tree which I decorated with family photo ornaments.

I started this tradition over five years ago.

As I was hanging the ornaments, I realized that they need updating.
We have grandchildren now and two sons-in-law!

With all our photos imprisoned on the computer, it isn't easy to get hard copies.
That will be a project before Christmas Day.

Costco used to carry these ornaments years ago, and I'm sorry they discontinued them.
Photo ornaments are hard to find!

It feels good to get the trees decorated.
I'm not sure they are worthy of entering them in Tartanscot's contest though!

Love your trees. I send off my photos from my computer to CVS and they are ready to be picked up in an hour and sometimes less. Very cheap, too.

How wonderful. I can't believe you did it all yourself. The lights are the worst! The photo ornaments are so fun. Glad you were able to get so many things done!

Gorgeous! I love both trees. The photo tree is darling and the Santa tree with burlap very special!

I would have thrown the old tangled lights away too!

I love your trees and I think you should enter. Just because. I mix photo ornaments on our tree, too. I have some in small silver frames, some in clear glass balls, and some in sachets. Even the pets have their own ornaments. The big tree is gorgeous with just your Santa's. I can see why the batteried candles would take a bit to turn on.. go get yourself some battery powered votives that come on on timers. If you can't find any, I'd be glad to send you some! Just because..
Your merry-making makes me smile! xo marlis

Beautiful! simply beautiful! My mother in law has always done photo ornaments of her grandchildren and they have a "section" on her ginormous tree! It is always fun because even though some of them are married and have kids of their own…they still like to find "their" section of picture ornaments! Love your tree! You did a marvelous job!

Hi D!! I love it!! the red lanterns are such a wonderful addition to the burlap and tartan plaid. Perfectly executed!! Of course the little Family tree is a favorite of mine. You know what a sap I am about Family memories. That is why I call my tree a Memory Tree, too many wonderful sweet memories on it, to be called a Christmas tree.
Enjoy all your efforts and make more memories this year with your wonderful family. Love you friend,
xo Kathysue

Look beautiful! I'm still decorating. My friend tells me I need to limit decorating to 24 hours. Maybe next year.

Both trees are just adorable, Delores. Your main tree looks just fine, even without Mr. A to string the lights. ha ha. I do love those little red lanterns tucked among the branches. And your little tartan tree is too cute. I love the idea of phot ornaments. Very sweet.
