The Sunroom Gets An Update

My favorite room in the house is our sunroom, located just off the kitchen.
I love sitting in "the chair" and sipping coffee in the morning, sometimes watching the sunrise.
Or, in the evening with Mr. A, sipping a glass of wine.
It is our go-to room in the house!

Recently, I made a few changes and updates in the sunroom, starting with "the chair."

I was lucky to find red and white woven ticking that will wear like iron and had a new slipcover made.

While I realize this isn't a big difference from the last slipcover, trust me, it is a welcome change.

It goes with the red sofa that has held up to sunlight and dogs...

...and the two grain sack upholstered chairs that we found in Santa Fe a few years ago.
The wicker and leather table between the two chairs is a recent find from a local consignment shop.

It goes with the new trunk that doubles as a coffee table which I purchased at the same shop.
The throw on the sofa arm is also a new addition, found on OKL.
It is all cotton and resembles French grain sack material.

The new trunk holds stacks of my latest design books, as this is where I love to sit, read and blog!

Like I said, we live in here!
It is a small, long and narrow space which is filled with furniture, yet we manage to live large in this room!

Some people might feel a bit cramped in a room this small, but I tend to gravitate towards small, cozy rooms.

Also, the dogs are welcome here, and they know it!

While we are gone, they sleep in here, waiting and watching for our return.

I love the sunlight all day long in this room--I guess that's why it's called a sunroom!
But also love the evening in here.

Yes, it's even more cozy at night!

The sunroom has gone through a lot of changes over the years.

Besides your kitchen eating area, this is my other favorite room. I love the ticking stripe, it is a cousin to my blue ticking sofa!! Same fabric!! Such a cozy, inviting room and I can see you sitting there enjoying your coffee.
Happy Tuesday,
Kathysue

I love it when someones home decor choices show individuality and style. Your sun room looks so cozy and pretty! May I ask who is the maker of that red and white ticking fabric? I am in need of some ironclad black and white ticking and have been searching like crazy.

Great space! Yes, no matter how large a home, I think we only really need about 3 or for rooms! Looks wonderful. Love the slip cover on "the chair"!

It is perfect. Every single detail, and especially your little "furry" additions. :) We have a 30x30 family room and you know what, I gravitate to the small breakfast room where I sit and blog and have coffee and read, etc. I think we are drawn to smaller. cozier spaces because they envelop us like a warm sweater. I love the red ticking. Its a fave material. Thanks for sharing your special space with us. xxoo

I love that your sunroom is narrow and cozy, those are my favorite kinds of rooms. My grandparents had a similar sunroom and we would all gather there. And I think it takes more thought and care to design a room that is smaller, and yours is designed beautifully. Love the new slipcover and all of your changes!

We had a sunroom in our old house up north: it too was long and narrow. As soon as we moved in (many years ago!) we made into my studio/office and I just loved it. It faced north but had a 10' long radiator (they made those in 1920!) so was always toasty.
You know what I like most about your room? No TV!!!! How very refreshing to see a much used room without the ubiquitous TV! Very nice...

Your room looks so pretty but yet comfortable to relax in. My favorite thing is the cow picture on the wall.

Such a lovely and inviting place. It was so good to see another long narrow sunroom and how you used that space. Visit me here http://beautywithoutwithin.blogspot.com/2013/04/before-and-after-wednesday-back-porch.html to see how we recently remodeled our space.

If this was my house, I'd probably consider the sunroom as my favorite part too. It looks so enthralling! I love how you mixed and matched the colors. Also, the place doesn't only convey a single style; there's a combination of contemporary and Victorian in it. The trunk caught my eye, by the way. For me, it was the most unique fixture in your sunroom.
