The Ultimate List For 2014: #6 Clean More Often

This is my philosophy too.
If your house is too clean, your guests feel uncomfortable.
My house is clean, but not too clean.
We live it our house and it shows!
And that's about all I'm going to say about #6 on the list!

  1. I live by the quote "clean enough to be healthy, dirty enough to be happy". I agree with yours too. I have been to a few homes that were gorgeous but were not the kind of homes you could tuck you feet up on the couch with a hot cup of tea. And then there are homes that are in such a state that you don't feel "comfortable" eating food from! As with everything in life, balance.

  2. My husband does all, yes all, the cleaning in our house and does a superb job! So at least that is one thing I don't have to worry about….

  3. I completely agree! I have a dog and two kids so it's unrealistic to have a spotless house. I feel much more welcome in a house that is not perfect.

  4. I'm with you on this one too. I have to have a clean house, but that doesn't mean it can't look lived in. Great quote! ~ Sarah

  5. Sometimes OKAY is just good enough!! So I try to achieve an OKAY attitude, but I am a clean freak when it comes to bathrooms and kitchens, I must say.

  6. My mother in laws home is always spotless. She can casually make my kitchen spic and spam when she visits. But it came out not too long ago that she was in the hospital for "exhaustion" after her twins were born. She broke down while cleaning her baseboards while they were napping. I've never looked at dusty baseboards the same way since. Just not worth worrying about. (Though mine need cleaning lol)

  8. I so agree. As long as the important things are clean; toilets and kitchen, and the basics are in place; fridge is full, garbage is out, and the laundry sorta caught up, I can relax. Your home is lovely. Kathi

  9. Delores,
Oh, boy how am I going to come across?
Have to live clean and sometimes barely lived in Lol!
I know kind of O.C.D over here. But I get it, lived in for me is a look of comfort, relaxed with a sense of calm. A stack of books at reach is as lived in as it gets. I am trying to relax with home and the walls I live within, if I visit a friend with my daughter we tend to even get her motivated to do a face lift to her home, tidy up, move things around, throw some things out, inspire a more organized life.

I know that you have one of the most tidy homes I have ever viewed in a post, beautifully staged ready for entertaining. I am inspired with every bit of who you are and the home that rises up to meet you each day.

    See you soon,
    Xx

Ps. I Think I ill toss a few more throw pillows to the floor.

  10. I agree too. Some people have a house. Perfect in every way. Fine furnishings and expensive finishes. I usually stand the entire time I am in a home that reeks of clean. Then there is the rest of us. We call the place we live HOME. A cozy throw across the back of the couch, a half read magazine on the table next to today's mail (and the coupons that need to be cut out of the paper, a pair of shoes next to the door and a set of keys on the entry table. What's not to love. Give me a clean kitchen, a clean bathroom, and a clean bedroom. Make sure the refrigerator is cleaned every couple of weeks, wipe up the floors and keep the laundry caught up. The one thing that I would like to work on is the garage. But I figure if I keep the door closed it really doesn't bother me that much.

  11. Or, as Mario Buatta say, "Dust is a protective covering for furniture." :)
