Getting Ready To Sell

"Our house has been a very very fine house,
with two cats in the yard..."
I've been humming that Crosby, Stills and Nash song for the last two weeks while preparing our house for the market.

And yes, it's been a very, very fine house, but now it's time to say goodbye.

The photographer came yesterday for the virtual tour.
Since I'm the stager, I had to have everything perfect for the photoshoot.
That meant no clutter, no personal items and staged to sell.

So for two weeks, I've been packing all the dishes, crystal, photographs and books.
Boxes upon boxes of stuff went to storage, while our mattress and a few pieces of furniture went to our short term rental.

I'm crossing my fingers that our house sells quickly so we can move the rest of our furniture out!
Stay tuned for the virtual tour and more information about the sale...

  2. Fabulous Home! In my youth I would have adored it. So inviting looking. Now, I see all the maintenance... and what used to be fun isn't so much anymore finds it. Hope a lovely Family finds it and continues the grace and style you kept it in! Good luck with selling and whatever is your next location. We are preparing our property now for the market in the future. It's an enormous job!

  10. All the best with your sale, Delores.

We've had lots of positive feedback and one very low offer (buyer wishful thinking). We sit on pins and needles at our little leased apartment. So happy we decided to do the lease. Really helps with the stress.:-)

  22. Delores,
I would love a lesson from you on how to get the courage to make a move like this, as you obviously love your home. We are cursed with a love of all things beautiful and it's hard not to put our hearts and souls into our surroundings. Being so visual can be curse, can't it!
Anyway, I have been dealing with the difficult decision to pull the plug on our Bay Area home of 38 years and making the permanent move to our home in Carmel. I can tell you, it's almost a physical pain!
Of course we all know you will create magic in your new home and I can't wait to see what you do! Congratulations!!

  25. I have loved watching you decorate through the seasons, especially Christmas. You dining room has always been my favorite. Thank you for sharing with us all this time. I'm sorry to not have one more Christmas season to see, but perhaps you will treat us to that in the new place? Best wishes for a quick and easy sale.

  28. It will Delores, I give it a week and it will be sold, if not sooner.

I am so excited to see the finished new home, yet sad to see no more vignette designs take place in this home we have all become a custom to.
As for your song I was humming it before I ready your last words on it being a Stills and Nash song.

You my friend did beautiful styling to the walls of plain clean paint and staging to sell this home, I can't imagine it won't sell in a second or minute or two after listing it. When it hits the Msl's watch out, and don't feel so heart broken when you hear all the oooo's and awwww's, your new home is a stunner.

  30. You gave so much love to this home, and you leave it in a very good place. The new owners can create their own beautiful memories, which is a real gift. We sold our home of 18 years and moved 4 states away 2 years ago, and in a way, we've never looked back. New beautiful memories are being made in our new home. I wish the same for you. God bless you Delores.

  31. Such a beautiful family home. I bet it will sell quickly. My friend had a lovely home like this they recently sold. She says" you take the memories with you, not the house" I feel your pain!!
