The Guest Cottage

Recently when staying the weekend at our home in Asti, I decided to do a "photo shoot" of the guest cottage. Actually, we don't use the house for guests, but instead it is our master bedroom. When we have guests staying with us, they usually sleep in the main house. We love having our own separate quarters except when it's raining and we have to walk in the dark to go to bed! Otherwise, it feels more special to sleep here. Like having our own private spa retreat!

The house is divided into two rooms. The bedroom is in the back providing total privacy with a view of ancient oak trees looking north. In front is the sitting room with a sofa bed for extra guests. In between the two rooms is the bathroom.

View of the guest cottage looking north. The house was originally a two car garage! The previous owner converted it and I think did an excellent job. He put in a total of seven french doors which takes away from the garage look. Floors are cement throughout. In the future, a mini kitchen could be installed making it self contained.

  3. You never want to get going and face the day after sleeping so blissfully here. There is a certain peacefullness that occurs here. You want it to last forever.

  4. Hi Delores, Thanks for leaving your comment! I'm glad you stopped by. I always like finding new Bay Area designer friends! I want to eventually get a bunch of us Bay Area bloggers together for a night out? Would you be interested? Looking for someone to plan it with!

  5. Hello Delores~
Thank you for stopping by and your sweet comments. Wow, what a great cottage. You are very lucky to have such a place to run away too. I miss CA and the Bay area. It was so hard when we left 4 years ago, that I haven't been able to return! Don't get me wrong, New England living is beautiful with the change of seasons and the Fall is so beautiful here.

It was nice to meet you~ Enjoy your California living!

  9. Define "guest". Could it be a blonde southern woman from Alabama??

Gorgeous! What is the bedding? The bedskirt looks like linen or burlap? LOVE IT!

I have to go now, I am officially a "stalker"!

    Have a great day!

  11. Now we are talking my language. How soothing! Your guest cottage is nicer than my home. Yikes it is amazing. So this is how the other half live. I love that you keep everything so welcoming and warm and inviting. You really have done a wonderful job. I have curtains on my bed also. Only at the headboard not on the end. I love that look. I always think of cotton voile' curtains blowing in the breeze, Aaaaah, relaxing. Kathysue PS thank you for the heads-up on your wonderful guest cottage.
