S'mores!

The whole family is going camping this weekend! We are looking forward to introducing our granddaughter Reese to S'mores!

The first known recipe for S'mores appeared in the 1927 Girl Scout hand book called Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts. The recipe is as follows:

1 bag of marshmallows
Hershey's chocolate bar
graham crackers

Put marshmallow on a stick, roast over the fire.
When the marshmallow is golden, put on a graham cracker
with the milk chocolate, add another graham cracker
to make a sandwich. Smash together and enjoy!

Yum!

I'm joining Laurie at Bargain Hunting With Laurie for Favorite Things Saturday.

  4. Interestingly I have never heard of S'mores before they sound absolutley divine! I guess it's a culture thing because we don't have Hershy bars or Graham crackers here in Adelaide - but it would be easy to substitute. Must try them!!

  12. This is one of my sinful pleasures. I am going on a girls weekend to the mountain next month and I am in charge of planning a whole "campfire meal". We are making S'mores for dessert. I'm going to attempt homemade marshmallows!
    I love your images!

  17. I remember going camping at Girl Scout Camp fondly and we always made Smores. Your post stirred up a very happy memory.

I had also read your post about the dinner party at the Mondavi's which I thought was amazing. I found myself buying a bottle of Mondavi chardonnay and I enjoyed it. I had never bought a bottle of Mondavi wine before??? I even shared with someone about that amazing post of the dinner party. I find your blog triggering some good things for me at least. Thanks.

  23. I have a confession to make! For reasons beyond our control, we cancelled the camping trip Saturday morning. We were all packed even. So we ended up setting up a tent in the backyard. Granddaughter Reese thought she was camping! The S'mores will have to wait until next time!
