Christmas Tree Grove by Spode, was the star attraction for my Christmas tablescape 2010.
A variation of the classic and most loved Christmas Tree, it is it's dressed-up cousin!
All season long, I planned on using my Tartan plaid plates. Until I fell in love with these!
Is it weird to fall in love with a plate?
Well, I did! And I fell hard! Smitten by a plate!
Mr. A was all too happy to call the newest set of plates my Christmas gift!
It worked for him--he didn't have to hit the malls!
A departure from the usual red and green theme, the Christmas Tree Grove pattern has a lovely border of roses in subtle colors, giving it richness and warmth.
I used a combination of red, purple and green stemware to bring out those colors.
I used Santa napkins from World Market last year. They compliment the plates perfectly.
For the centerpiece I used a brown linen runner layered with fresh greens. In the middle, a copper wine bucket with fresh flowers of the season bring out the brown in the plates.

I would be hard pressed to choose between the pretty Tartan plaids that you have been sporting and this fabulous pattern by Spode! ReplyDeleteAs a self confessed "dishaholic" -- yes! You can love plates! Your table is gorgeous. I know you'll enjoy this for many a Christmas.
ReplyDeleteYou ask, "is it weird to fall in love with a plate?" and the answer is......heck, nooooo!!! There are those plates that we date (use for a pleasant change), those that we have a relationship with (like so much we use for special occassions), and then those we love. These are the ones that make you wish the perfect occassion to use then came around much more often. We are sad to store them carefully away, we think of them in storage awaiting "the event", we keep alert to find them "friends" who will make them look even better, and then finally, we fly to the cupboard or closet and lovingly greet them for another affair. I think these particular beauties have come to a good home. It's a perfect match.

Delores, those plates are gorgeous and your whole table setting is wonderful. You have the prettiest stemware. That is one thing I don't have. Of course we don't entertain so I don't usually look for it. I am sure your family enjoyed that wonderful setting.

I can see why you fell in love with these plates, they are gorgeous. Beautiful tablescape and I love the napkins. They would go perfect with my Santa collection decor. Also, the purple stemware is a perfect accent. Who would have thought it?

That is the prettiest Christmas tablescape I've seen yet this season. No, it's not weird to love a plate. I love my Spode Christmas Tree too (the cousin you mention). Though your pattern and your table are simply stunning. Sort of reminds me of Johnson Brothers. Wish I could add these to my collection but there's no going back for me now as I've been collecting all the serving pieces as well, but I am in love with yours too. I love the different colored goblets at each setting. What a unique idea. Pretty. Pretty. Pretty.

ReplyDeleteNo Delores, it is not unusual to fall in love with a china pattern (at least not unusual for me), and I have definitely fallen in love with this one! What a beautiful table you set with this gorgeous pattern. (I'm loving those Santa napkins too). All of those jewell colored stems are the perfect accompaniment to that china. You have such a knack for putting things together beautifully, and I always love seeing what you've created. laurie
