A Succulent Tablescape


Last week, Tourshi Catering had another gig at the Bluxome Street Winery and I was asked, once again, to come up with an interesting tablescape.

This is a working winery, so all the tables, chairs and tablecloths were rented. The rest, I brought in, including charger plates, candles, linens and centerpiece.

I have to admit, I'm running out of ideas! How do you entertain 15 gentlemen, creating a tablescape that is attractive and masculine?

I spied my succulent planter outside and decided that would be the centerpiece. Remembering that I found the faux rock planter at Joann's Fabrics, I went there hoping to find more. Sure enough, there were plenty in all sizes at 60% off. Score!

The rental company didn't deliver enough tables or the right sized tablecloths, so I improvised with this black and white stripe yardage that was on hand. It covers all the seams and brings the three tables together.

I arranged the larger plants in the middle and smaller ones on each side. Distressed candlesticks and votives complete the table centerpiece. Masculine? I think so...

    One of my favorite tables this year was after you showed the succulents.. were those in the photo new? Mine are starting to look puny (I'm sure it's not the care they are getting ha ha)... lovely once again and so perfect for a winery and dinner with all gents! great idea with the yardage down the center too. A true winner!

    Absolutely masculine--but in an utterly refined and elegant fashion! And necessity is truly the mother of invention--the mistake on someone else's part with the wrong linens/table sizes/amounts caused you to use the fabulous B&W fabric that I think absolutely grounds the entire tablescape. (or tableSscape if it's plural?)
    Utterly fabulous as always!
    Oh, and I am in love with the French shop you highlighted in the last post!

    Very lovely. I've become rather fascinated with succulent plantings since being initially turned on to them by a friend and fellow gardener from New Zealand. I can't stop looking at the actual formation of the plants ... so prehistoric looking and yet so cute. I've done a little with them but, I need to explore more. The one drawback here is our wet, cool climate. We have to watch out that they don't drown.

    "YOU SCORED" sounds about right on your lovely tablescape too. I hope they pay you well. The succulents just pop out so healthy and inviting. The pewter chargers and ticking fabric bring it all together. I know it was a great evening.

    I struggle when trying to come up with masculine tablescapes but you've hit the nail on the head! Everything from the striped runner to the candlesticks to the faux stone pots for/and the succulents, it all looks quite manly yet pleasing to the eye.
    I can imagine once the candles were lit and the glasses filled, the men felt very welcomed and relaxed awaiting the feast to come!
