Paint It Black


I'm so excited to reveal this week's projects--both of them being transformations with black paint.

It all started when I found this outdoor stripe fabric at the local fabric wholesale house. It was such a deal, but didn't exactly look good on the outdoor wicker furniture.
When in doubt, paint it black!

Before, the set had neutral tan fabric, which after 5 years was looking a little tattered and tired.
The squirrels had even decided to bury their nuts in one of the cushions!

So, David, the upholsterer took the cushions to be recovered...

...While Bob, the Painter spray painted the furniture with good ole black Rustoleum!

This morning, the new cushions were delivered, and I am so pleased!
It's a brand new look! I love how the green stripe cushions look with the black wicker, even the old rust monogrammed pillows are ok.

David also slipcovered the chaise cushions, so it all works together.


I'm having a garden tea for 60 ladies in a few weeks. After years of neglecting my backyard, it is time to make a few improvements!


This afternoon, I sat outside enjoying the new furniture.

Dexter joined me and took up his favorite spot on the sofa...

...while Butter explored the new set-up!

    WoW! What a transformation! Black, white and green are one of my favorite color combinations. The green and white just speak peace and tranquility to me. Those rust and the paisley pillows are great Autumnal accents...especially with the on~coming of Fall. Your ladies will we pampered, indeed!

    I really love the transformation! Green and black are truly yummy together. So love 'the before and after' pictures. How I would love to be on your guest list. The trouble is, I may not go home! Great job Delores!

    Beautiful fabric! Looks so cozy... I recovered my cushions this year too and it makes such a huge difference! Can't wait to see what else you had painted black...

    Absolutely love it!! I am a big big fan of black just about anything, its so rich looking and against all that green, its just spectcaular and looks AMAZING with your new cushions. Enjoy...cannot wait to see part 2!

    Wow, a can (or 2) of inexpensive spray paint can make such a huge difference! LOVE the "new" set ... the black look fantastic and so does the fabric you chose! Fabulous!

    Looks really great! I have some green furniture and I've thought about adding black and white striped cushions! This give me incentive!
    Paint it Black reminds me of the Rolling Stones song, now it's in my head!!

    I loved your neutral outdoor furniture, but now I love the black and green :-) I adore your fountain and almost missed seeing the bird! An outdoor tea...could you make it for 61? 8-) I'll be looking forward to pictures and details. Thanks for a fabulous blog.

    Love the new black. I think black makes everything look bigger and deeper. I would continue with the table and black wash all of the wood. Would look great.

    Love love love the black wicker.. and the stripe is wonderful. Green is such a great color for outside. We neglected our yard this whole heat-laden summer so now that we are entertaining this next Saturday.. full steam ahead with spruce ups.. Best of luck with yours.. xo marlis
