Autumn Eye Candy And A Garden Tea

Yesterday, I hosted a garden tea for the Fine Arts Museum Auxiliary.
Besides providing the home, I was asked to do the flower arrangement for the table.
No problem! Here are some of my inspiration photos....

What they really wanted, was something similar to my fall arrangement that I made for a tablescape last year, as seen here.

So, that's what I did. Not exactly the same, but close.

After a few weeks of sprucing up my garden with new plants and grass, as well as new cushions, it rained! No, it poured! The 12 local artists that were coming to display their art on my grass had to be cancelled.

The garden tea ended up in the kitchen! Sixty ladies in my kitchen!

Even though the sun broke through, everyone still stayed inside, congregating around the table and kitchen island. It was really fun, and everyone had a good time.
And of course, it's a beautiful day today! Goes to show, you can't predict the weather, especially this time of year.

Have a lovely fall weekend!

  1. Isn't it odd how everyone loves to be in the kitchen with you, even though you have a lovely garden setting for them? Everything is sooo beautiful and I especially love those centerpieces. Thanks for sharing!

  8. Oh. My. Goodness! Your arrangements are amazing. Thank you SO much for showing them here.

I'm sure you were disappointed not to be able to host the group outdoors. However, I know your hostess instincts took over and compensated.

  20. Wow Delores! That's too bad about having to cancel the art exhibit on your lawn, but it looks like things turned out wonderfully anyway! I love all the arrangements you showed, especially those in the pumpkin/squash containers...Love your new centerpiece this year in the tray (as you know I adored yours from last year)! 60 people in my house would overwhelm me much less near my kitchen! I love seeing the china pulled out and readied for a gathering! You have a wonderful weekend too! Ours is beautiful!

  21. D - I was in your lovely part of the world last week with my dear sweet Kathysue and I am ready to pack my bangs and buy a home there. LOL I am sorry about the weather. It never fails. I am sorry all of your hard work was ruined by the weather. But you know what, everyone would have probably ended up in your beautiful kitchen anyway. LOL Happy Sunday!
