Before and After

Everyone loves a good before and after story, so I thought it might be fun to look at our home before the photoshoot, before Bonnie worked her magic and before John captured it with his lens.

BEFORE
The living room before.
This is what it usually looks like.
Bonnie removed the leather chairs and I removed the hooked rug just before she got there.

AFTER
Bonnie brought in my French chairs, opening up the room.
She staged the mantel and coffee table simply.
I love this look, but couldn't wait to put back the leather chairs.
It's where we sit, by the fire and drink our coffee in the morning.

BEFORE
The dining room before didn't change much. The hutch was restaged and my confit pots came in handy to hold olive branches from the property.

AFTER

BEFORE

AFTER

BEFORE
This is a terrible shot, but it shows what we had to work with.

AFTER
John got up very early in the morning to take this moody shot. The fog was still out and the light was exactly as you see it here.

I've received a lot of emails about the magazine feature, but one in particular stood out to me.
Marlis Bennett from Creative Journeys said, "I truly wish the article had not ended and we could have peeked into all the nooks and crannies."
Great idea Marlis! Stay tuned for a more detailed tour, nooks and crannies style!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
May 2012 be the best year ever!

  7. Save me a seat on the tour for Nooks And Cranny! I love the before and after of the photo shoot...but have to say...I liked it just the way you had it...and the beauty is not always justified when it reduces USE...as in the leather chairs where you sit to drink your coffee! xo Diana

  11. Except for the lighting the Before looks just as beautiful as the After. I do however, like the corner table near the window in the first shot. I also like the the French chairs instead of the heavy leather chairs. But sometimes, form and function don't quite come together.
Looking forward to seeing more of your beautiful home. Happy New Year!

  12. Wonderful photos. I agree with a previous comment that the fact that they didn't have to change much is quite a testament to your design skills. Waiting for the 'nooks and crannies' tour!!

  13. Having a professional stager stage your home is like having a professional make-up artist do your make-up, they seem to bring out the best of the beauty in both home and person. I love you home anyhow and with Bonnie's touch it just shines. So proud of YOU and happy for YOU, xo Kathysue

  14. WOW Delores..well lets face it the before is spectacular too but its fun to see how they stage and fix things up to enhance the beauty already there!! Your home is truly spectacular...congrats again on such a wonderful feature, love that magazine!

  15. So much to love - and the reality of the way you actually use the house made only a small difference, which is a testament to you!

  17. Wow.....WoW! This is in the states? I need to venture out west. The rolling hills of the vineyard, the fog, and of course the simplicity of your decor takes me back to Tuscany! I love the before and after and shows the talented eye you and Bonnie have. It is absolutely beautiful! You must be on a high because I know I would if I were in your shoes! Congrats on your success!!!

  21. Aah thank you.. I'm honored. But I am so delighted you showed the before (to which I'm partial) and the after! While both fabulous, Bonnie had great bones with which to work, beautiful accessories at her hand and wonderful style was already there! Your home and taste/style are a quite lovely. Better yet, you married the inside with the outside and that makes it so cohesive! A wonderful place for a bit of resting and relaxing. xo marlis (who is eagerly awaiting more more more)

  22. Delores - although I feel your home is as Tuscan as it gets, it is amazing how a stylist can come in an tweak a few things to make something wonderful even better. As I looked at each of your "before" shots, I was thinking there was no way she could make it any prettier. She just made it more magazine ready. Each pic was just astounding. My fave is the early-morning patio shot. OMGoodness. <3
Thanks for sharing your journey with us. I look forward to seeing even more. Happy New Year, Barb

  25. Absolutely beautiful! I am so happy to see a home that the before shots so closely match the after because too many of them end up looking nothing like the owner's real home. Yours is beautiful!

    Happy new year!

  26. Congratulations on what looks like a fabulous spread...can't wait to get my hands on a copy of this...your place is a stylist's dream assignment...all it needed was a little tweaking for the camera as you already gave it all the right stuff.

  31. Delores, it's fun to see all of this along with the post below and the article itself. I agree with Marlis, I'm eager to see every little nook and crannie. I found the article on your home to be my favorite in the magazine by far. Asti looks to be a home that is full of comfort without sacrificing style. You definitely have STYLE!
Thanks for sharing Asti with all your readers. It is indeed a treat. ~ Sarah

  32. Of course, the stylists had so much to work with, but it is fun to see what they use to appeal to the camera. Beautifully done, but in the end we live in our homes and comfort trumps sheer beauty-- hence, moving back the leather chairs. The photos are fabulous, especially the one John did in the fog; very painterly.
Congratulations. I am on the search for the magazine, and look forward to reading the article.
    All the best...Victoria

  33. Delores,
It's interesting to see the comparison...it seems to me that most of the magic is in the photography. The light is wonderful in the 'after' pics. Your home is lovely and while I like the after pics, it's still your talents as a designer that show through. Congratulations.

  34. Absolutely beautiful...the 'Before'! No on
bjection to the 'after' but I can relate to the leather chairs where you have morning coffee near the fire.
Sign me up for the nooks & crannies tour!!
Happy New Year to you and yours, & thank you for a year of wonderful posts!
