A Hot Summer Alfresco Tablescape

Last weekend, I created a summer alfresco tablescape for our guests, using warm ochre colors, representative of the hot summer weather we have been having in Asti.
The focal point of the table, a French confit pot filled with sunflowers!

Sunflower themed napkins and majolica plates continue the theme.

A rustic burlap runner and willow placemats are right at home on the cement table under the mulberry tree.

Since our guests hadn't arrived yet, and dinner was planned for late evening when the temperature cooled down, I added the mesh domes to the place settings to keep the insects away.

The rosemary topiaries gave off a strong scent in the 100 degree heat...

...and later complimented the menu of tri-tip steak,
heirloom tomatoes, corn on the cob and wild rice.

It was a glorious night, with the stars and a magnificent moon too.
I absolutely love late night summer alfresco dinners, don't you?

  1. Your table ALMOST competes with your view...and that's saying a LOT!

  2. Really like the spread. Those bug domes are great! I got them a few years ago and love them. I use them mostly for the food platters and bowls we use outside. Did you grow the rosemary topiaries? I have tried myself in the past but never get them to turn out just how I like. Yours are beautiful.

  17. Gorgous! with a perfectly gorgeous view as well. You put together the most flawless table settings. I love your confit pot and your menu sounds delicious.

Do you have any tips for rosemary? I have gone through a few topiaries in my kitchen that didn't last very long. However, I have two in there now that are thriving and doing well for a few months now.

    Have a wonderful evening.
