Grasscloth Mini Reveal

What a thrill to come home Sunday night and see grasscloth on the walls!

Although this is also what we came home to.
I quickly realized I needed help to put "humpty dumpty" back together again.

I no sooner thought it, when the phone rang.
It was Ryan the Contractor asking if I needed help putting the living room back together!
So yesterday, he installed the light fixtures, curtains, moved the piano and bookshelf (with my help), as well as install a new lantern in the entry and my corbels in the kitchen.

It was a good day!

I love seeing how everything that is old in the room looks new and fresh with the grasscloth.

I also didn't realize what a texture junky I've become.  I think I like texture just as much or more than color!

The living room has a long way to go.  Which is why this is just a mini reveal.
The sofa and chairs are at the upholsterers and the draperies aren't finished yet.
Oh, and then there is the fun part.  Staging the room.  The mantel included!

Grasscloth.
I love you!

I love the update, it looks just like my family room! I adore our burlap walls. It's the coziest room in the house, all 4 seasons!!

  11. I love it! I love the texture too. In my lr, I put on the wall that doesn't have brick..it's a great ad on for the texture department. I also added my scraps to table tops and a dresser top/drawers. I love grass cloth too!!!

  12. Very cool Delores! I've hung wall paper before but I have to admit , it has been years! So happy to see it making a come-back. And it looks like grass cloth may be easier to hang because you would have more control. I don't know, just think out loud. It looks great though! Hope you are having a great summer, Ed and I are both well. Can you believe its been a year since we saw Fifi?

  13. Happy to hear that it turned out good given the rocky start. It looks great. Funny how changing a few things makes all of your "old" stuff feel new again.

  16. It looks great, Delores. On first look, I though you had upholstered the walls with burlap. It is a highly textured grasscloth...a wonderful change. Cannot wait to see the finished room.

  17. Grass cloth is such a classic! When my parents bought their home, new, drirect from builder in 1960, there was grass cloth all over the walls (entryway, dining and living room! It has stood the test of time. To update my mom had it painted rather than tear it down and it still looks good after all yhese years! You have inspired me again...

  20. It looks as if it was always like that, as if it has been there forever. Now that is what I call a great transformation. I love when it is a natural transition because it just fits perfectly. Can't wait to see the reveal when it is all complete. Happy weekend.

  21. Just amazing. this is the new look of Grasscloth. Nothing like the paper I had to pull off in pieces from our 1990 remodel that was from the 60-70's. Looks like a linen/burlap fabric. LOVE IT!
