The good news is that after waiting for 3 months for the new living room curtains, they finally came in.
I couldn't wait to pick them up from Calico Corners.
I'm very happy with them and love how the Ralph Lauren linen fabric looks next to the grasscloth walls.
I love the simplicity of the red stripe and how it picks up the red paisley on the chairs.
They even got the header right!
I always use this gathered, smocked header for all my curtains.
So what's the bad news you ask?
Well, apparently, they thought I only wanted four panels instead of four pairs for four windows.
Now I need four more panels!
But, will they be able to match the original four?
Will the dye lot be the same?
Will they get the header right?
I ended up sending one panel back to the workroom to be used as a template.
Fingers crossed that in four weeks, the living room will be finished--just in time for Christmas.
(Note to self: always check, re-check and double check the work order!)

I hope it all works out, you poor thing. That's a lot of waiting. They are beautiful, though, and I love the way they hang.
ReplyDeleteWow, after waiting all that time. That is ashamed. I hate waiting for anything. I do love that fabric.
ReplyDeleteThis post made me laugh!
ReplyDeleteIt reminded me of the types of things I didn't know to look for in my early days of designing.
I have had some very painful lessons!
The trick is not to make the same mistake twice.....
I'm still trying to learn that part.....
Great panels. I hate waiting! Good Luck. xo, Ron at Uptown Acorn

ReplyDeleteDelores
ReplyDeleteYou will love that fabric. I have it on my family room chairs. They can call Ralph Lauren and find the same dyelot. It shouldn't be a problem if you do it right away! Good Luck
Utterly beautiful I really love the whole room. Green velevt is a personal favorite, and the grasscloth is simply to die for. What a lovely, inviting room.
ReplyDeleteI hope they get it right, because they are beautiful!!!

UGH - I hate when stuff like this happens. You may want to write a letter to Santa to see if maybe he can help. :-) Good luck!
ReplyDeleteWow, your room is gorgeous! I know you are disappointed that they messed up your order, though.

ReplyDeleteDarn it...but will be worth the wait..so gorgeous
ReplyDeleteI think it was a good idea to send the one panel back...so that they can make sure the fabric is a match. They look wonderful and I look forward to seeing the entire room when you've got them all up!

Hi Delores!
ReplyDeleteI noticed the headers first thing as they have so much personality. I tend to notice these things as I designed many window treatments when I worked for Calico Corners. I LOVE all their fabrics!!!
I always went to the home for the design consultation and to get measurements. I take it that you didn't need that service as you knew what you wanted and the measurements. Too bad your order was written up wrong. Do not accept it if it is not to your satisfaction :)
xoxo Bunny Jean
Well, that must have been a surprise! Great idea sending one back for them to use for comparison. They look great! I've never used Calico Corners but there's one very close to me. I think I'll check them out sometime soon. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Delores! Oh, your drapes are so pretty and I love the smocked header. I'm sorry you had to wait soooo long and didn't get all of your order. I'm crossing my fingers for you that the nexxt couple of pairs will be perfect for you.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia :)
Yes I hear you! When I did mine, I anticipated your exact problem of number of windows, versus no curtains, versus number of drops & panels etc etc and provided a bevy of information to clarify all this, only to be told by my curtain maker that I am overloading and confusing them, so don't worry about it you can't win!
ReplyDeleteIt is looking wonderful though! Journey Home Interior Design - Australia
That curtains are really perfect for your living room. You have a lovely sofa that fits for my
