Christmas 2012 Tablescape

The inspiration behind the Christmas 2012 tablescape were two fringed cotton paisley tablecloths that I found on sale at Pottery Barn, last minute.

I laid them end to end and layered a long piece of linen yardage underneath.

The muted colors of the tablecloths dictated which dishes to use, even though I have used them before, just not in this combination.

In fact, I had the table set with other dishes, but when I found the Pottery Barn tablecloths, it changed everything!

The Santa Claus napkins give no doubt that this is a Christmas table.

With both leaves pulled out, the table will sit 12 to 14, and it almost takes up the entire length of the room.
Which makes finding tablecloths difficult, as well as a centerpiece that doesn't get lost in the middle.

To extend the centerpiece, I used white roses in a larger arrangement for the center, with two smaller arrangements on either side.
Then I laid greens and pine cones down the table.

The table just before we sat down for dinner last night...

...on the menu?
The traditional lamb shish-ka-bob, rice pilaf, great-grandma's cranberry mold, buttered carrots and a delectable salad of persimmons and fennel.

We cheated and bought store bought pies from Heidi's Pies.
Chocolate cream, pecan and lemon meringue.
Yum!

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday and don't have to go to work today!
I vote for the week off between Christmas and New Year's!

  7. Delores, I woud have scooped up those paisley cloths too. They work beautifully on your long table. Used our Plaid Tidings salad plates for our Christmas Eve dinner. I'm still hopeful that I'll find at least 4 more dinner plates in this pattern so I can at least serve 8. They set a beautiful table. I need to remember to use them with my cabbage leaf pieces.
Love the natural greens and pine cones with the white roses. Very elegant! I went with the chocolate Santa theme. Will post my table later this evening. Still working on it. ;-)
Thanks for sharing your beautiful Christmas table......Sarah

  9. That is so incredibly stunning. I love every single thing about it. Is that a subtle leopard print combined with the majolica? What is it? I'm crazy for it :) Thanks for sharing, your dining room is always so beautiful. Happy New Year.

  10. Hey there, Delores!!!!! BEAUTIFUL!!! You did an outstanding job with this table! I love that you jumped at the challenge of covering the table. Perfect idea to use the length of fabric topped with the two gorgeous patterned pieces from PB!!! You really did a phenomenal job of extending that centerpiece, too! You "connected the dots" perfectly by adding the 2 smaller rose arrangements and the connecting greenery, pine cones and votives. I really love the plate combination you chose, too! It's perfect with the colors in the paisley toppers! Sounds like you enjoyed a wonderful dinner with your family (great menu!), and I am so happy you are enjoying this holiday week! Have a safe and joyous New Year! See you in 2013!

  12. Your table is absolutely gorgeous as always. Those Santa napkins are lovely, wish I could find some just like them. I used a plaid tablecloth this year with red clear glass chargers and my Spode Christmas Tree. I do have similar Waterford hocks that I used but am loving those red stems with the clear base. Do you know the pattern name, I would love to find some of those as well.

You can never go wrong with fresh flowers, greens and pinecones.
    Very beautiful Christmas table.

Blessings for a Wonderful New Year!

Oh Yea, I have those same footed glasses but mine or bright green.
Love them..........they use to belong to an elderly neighbor we
were friends with over 35 years ago, and she said she had gotten them at a restaurant in New Orleans when she was in her twenties I think it was......35 years ago she
was 80 something before her passing. So that would make them
well over a hundred years old.
Think that makes them antique!! lol
Your red ones are gorgeous too, the color so rich is what I loved too.

  18. Delores, are those the Florentine Paisley table toppers? I've been eyeing them on eBay, and I'm so glad to see them in use. I'm pretty sure that I'm looking at the same ones. Your table is gorgeous. I need to think about using the Bordallo for a Christmas tables cape next year. Yours looks fantastic, and I love the texture that they add. Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Happy New Year! Cherry Kay
