What Took So Long?

We finally got a tree!
Mr. A and I, along with our youngest, finally went to Steve's Christmas Trees yesterday and bought a  tree!

I want a small tree.
Mr. A and Alex want a big tree...

In the meantime, I'm picking up as many branches as my arms can hold to scatter around the house and use in arrangements.

Alex found the perfect one!

I can't remember ever waiting this long to get a tree!
December 9th?  Really?

I wonder how long it will sit in the house naked?
Are any of you having a hard time getting ready for the holidays too?

  1. Your tree looks perfect--can't wait to see it decorated. I never have trouble getting our home decorated--I love it so much I have a hard time waiting until Thanksgiving but I do. I make a huge mess while I am doing the decorating and I don't like it that I do that--but the end result makes me so happy. My favorite is the tree and each night I sit with all the lights off looking at it--I just feel happy looking at all the lights and ornaments...

  2. You have plenty of time to get ready!! 2 weeks is enough time to get it all done!! Once you start you will go like a whirlwind!! I know you and you will have it all done in no time.
For some reason I got in the spirit really early this year. I am almost
done. Entry to do and a couple of gifts to pick up and I am DONE and then the real fun begins. Grandkids coming, family here for Christmas Eve, can hardly wait, Fa-la-la!!

  3. Your tree is beautiful and it will get decorated soon. I can so relate because our tree that we picked out last Thurs. and delivered on Sat. still sits in our family room NEKKED. I have been so slow this year and truly love all my decorations but did decide to scale back, instead of a tree in every room, less is more theory. Hopefully I'll get mine decorated this evening or at least lights on the tree. I did take my Christmas china out and have been using it every day since Thanksgiving and have the rest of the house decorated so I don't feel too badly about not having my tree decorated.

  4. Beautiful tree!!
We are not having problems getting started, we just don't put up a tree until the week before Christmas...then they don't dry out before we are ready to take them down ;^) We are blessed to be able to go out in the woods and cut our tree, so we don't have to worry too much about them all being gone!
    Blessings to you,
    J

  7. Yep, I've got the same problem. Got our tree last Tuesday. Sat in a bucket of water till Saturday when we hosed it down. Brought it in the house on Sunday morning. Still waiting to get motivated to string the lights. Then, the rest is fun!

  8. Delores, I thought it was just me having trouble getting ready for Christmas. :)
I feel like I'm a month behind. Your tree looks great, and I'll bet you have it decorated in no time. My fresh garland on the porch railing is looking pitiful. Wish I'd waited until now to get it. Now, thanks to the warm temps we've had, I'm going to have to add some fresh greens to it to hide the sunburned branches. Looking forward to seeing your tree all decorated.

  9. I know you are much younger than I Delores...but it comes with age...it gets harder and harder...especially if you decorate other's homes!

  10. Your tree is beautiful! I confess: my tree is nearly-nekked, just pine cones and lights.
I love the color of your foyer!

  11. What's the rush? It isn't Christmas 'til the 25, after all. Then you still have 12 days to enjoy.

  12. Yes, for some reason the season has just crept up on me and caught me unawares. I'm been spinning in place to catch up. I'm afraid by the time I do catch up...it will all be over!!

  13. Yes, we just got our tree on Friday. My husband put the lights on it but it's not yet decorated. My dog/animal tree is decorated though.

  14. Ditto. Our beautiful noble fir has been in the living room for one week, lights only! Argh. Can't happen tonight - hoping for a completed tree by the end of the week. Enjoyed your post on real or artificial. Honestly, I think I'm going to look for a small artificial one after the holidays. This is so much work for a grandma!

  15. Delores, your tree is beautiful and I can wait to see how you decorate it. Ours has been us since the first week of December, but only because we had house guests arriving that week. I gathered up fresh greens last weekend to around the house. Love the fragrance.

Seems I decorate less and less each year

  17. This is a strange year for our family. We're always in flux because we travel to New England for Christmas but I've always decorated at home. But last year we hosted a holiday house tour at our vacation home. It took two months in prep and I was accused of Christmas overload but I LOVED every second of it! But it's as if I have a Christmas hangover, can't quite get in the mood. But bough by bough, cookie by cookie, I'm finding my jingle bell groove again. Enjoy your tree...so green, so pretty!
