"Turning 60 really isn't that bad" said no one ever!
I'm celebrating this milestone by not celebrating, at least too much.
No party, just lunches with friends, a few dinners out with friends, maybe an overnight getaway with a few friends--you get the picture.
Low Key!
I'm not the only one turning 60.
Oprah turned 60 last week. I heard she cancelled her party and opted for an intimate dinner party at home.
Christy Brinkley turned 60 on Sunday. I heard she celebrated by posing in a sexy swimsuit.
Howard Stern turned 60. I heard he had a big bash, but who cares about him.
Happy 60!! Live it up and I'll be there in 2015.
ReplyDeleteI'll be attending my good friend Ceekay's 60th birthday party in two weeks.
ReplyDeleteAs my 92 year old grandmother would say "Aw, that was a great age!" :)
Enjoy it!
Happy Birthday, Delores! I'll join you this summer!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Delores! Welcome to the CLUB!!!! ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday...I'm closing in...
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Cindy
Happy 60th! I never had trouble with any birthdays until I reached 60. I kept thinking, but that's getting so close to 70. Now, I really am getting close to 70 and I look at it in a different way. I'm so glad to still be alive and in pretty darned good health and still able to get around good and even dance occasionally. I read the obits everyday and so many have passed on way too early. I take it a day at a time and am having more fun that I've ever had!
ReplyDeleteSixty was a few years ago for me, and you know what?, life just gets better and better!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Happy Birthday Delores...ENJOY!!
ReplyDeleteI am like several that have already commented - I will turn 60 in August. I'm with you no party. I am looking forward to doing pretty much what you are doing! Lunch, dinner & maybe a getaway trip. Happy Birthday! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteDear Delores....You know what I
ReplyDeletethink of age...."Get Over It"...
it's just a number. You are just
a chick, and you know it. Look
at you! You look fabulous in your short skirts and skinny jeans. And you will at my age too. Happiest Birthday and love
every day. You are surrounded by
a loving family and sweet pets. Love you, Delores. Bonnie
I decided at 59 that I needed to play more - intentional play. So for my 60th I rented a house in Monterey 2 friends and I flew in from Oklahoma and my daughter in law joined us from Colorado for 4 days of play. The highlight was our "day of creativity" with Elizabeth Murray at her home in Monterey. It was a great launch to what is proving to be a great decade. Life is "deeper" these days. But you only get here if you take the journey.
ReplyDeleteDolores, I hope you have the happiest of Birthdays! 60 is just a number.
ReplyDeleteI had the worst time turning 30!! I started at 27 when I realized I was "Almost 30" (I said that for 3 years)
You are beautiful, talented and inspirational! ..... and much younger than me!!!!!
60 is the new 25! Happy birthday to you and your Bff.
ReplyDeleteMake it a happy one!
Marcy
Happy Birthday! How fun to share it with your best friend!
ReplyDeleteYou make 60 look GREAT!! my dear. I remember when I turned 60 and all I could think about is how old it sounded. BUT!! Think of all the wisdom we have and the experiences we have had. Now is the time we can sit back and enjoy all of our hard work. Enjoy it my dear, you deserve a great YEAR!!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI'll be 55 y.o. very soon. Yeah-not...
ReplyDeleteDelores, Happy 60th. One does live. I hit mine in November. But it is dramatic.. I wish you many blessings and much joy. hugs, marlis
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Delores! You know 60 is the new 40, right? (Well, if anyone can pull that off it would be you!)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, consider the alternative to adding a year to the tally, and celebrate in style!

(still here, just lurking most days!)
Girlfriend!!!! Don't you know that turning 60 beats the h-e-double hockey sticks out of the alternative!!! I'm looking forward to 60 and every blessed milestone age thereafter! When I turned 55 last year, I had planned to have a blowout party and run around town getting all the "senior" discounts I've been waiting for. Turns out that I spent my birthday in hospice with my Dad who mercifully waited until the day after my actual birthday to pass on. Something about that whole experience was incredibly sobering. Here I was a now-55-year-old woman sitting dutifully at her 89-year-old Daddy's bedside pondering the day when it would be my turn. It occurred to me that I should and would from that day on live every day to the fullest and appreciate every birthday I'm given. I know turning 60 just makes it seem like we're getting totally over that hill, but getting over that hill is like sledding: Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! all the way down!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to you, dear Delores! And may you live to see many, many, many more!
From 60, life only gets better :^)
ReplyDeleteBlessings and happy birthday!
J
Happy Birthday Delores!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! Everyone doesn't get to turn 60 - SO Enjoy! After all what is the alternative. I hope you have an amazing day!!! :)

I'm only 3 short years behind you.
Happy Birthday Delores, from another follower turning 60 years young with you this year. 1954 was a very good year! Cheers!

ReplyDeleteI'm a few months ahead of you, and I still can't wrap my head around it. But after all I've been thru healthwise the last 10 years I really do appreciate "life". Have a wonderful birthday, I kept mine low-key too!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! It looks like you really enjoy life. I hope you keep on having fun!

Delores, happy 60th birthday. I just celebrated 67, so I'm paving the way for you. Honestly, it's not so bad. You have a zest for life. As the saying goes, you don't get older, you just get better!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your celebrations.
The father of a friend of mine said all the way through his sixties - 'I'm SEXTY-two, Sexty-three'.... etc.
ReplyDeleteHis daughter said 'I can't wait until he turns 70'.
But I think that Sexty is a great way to think about.
Oh I am right behind you, as I will celebrate my 60th this summer. As one said, not everyone is as fortunate to have come this far. We have to remember to celebrate each day, and remember it is only a number, happy happy birthday
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday directly from Poland! : )))))
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Delores. Embrace life and celebrate with Glee.
ReplyDeleteFirstly celebrate that you are still above the ground and here to be able to celebrate. So many don't reach that age.
Secondly celebrate all your achievements of the last 60 years.
Thirdly allow your loved ones to have the chance to celebrate You!
I am about to be 50 and I can tell you it will be a wonderful party for all the above reasons.
Happy Birthday! I am getting close. I tried to fight and kick and 50 happened, so I think I will embrace 60 too.
ReplyDeleteHappy, Happy Birthday Delores!! You make 60 look fabulous! Enjoy all your celebrations! xxojoan
ReplyDeleteHappy 60!
ReplyDeleteI keep trying to convince myself it is the new 40.....some days it actually works.
Maryanne
Happy Birthday Delores! I hope you had a super day! I love your idea of not throwing a big party, a more intimate celebration with people close to you sounds perfect!…xv

Happy Birthday! I turned 60 last year and will be 61 in May. It was not a big deal for me either. The cakes you showed are beautiful! Enjoy your year.
ReplyDeleteBlessings My Friend,
Happy 60th Birthday!!
ReplyDeleteHappy 60th! I'll be joining you in June. Yes, 1954 was a great year!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Delores! Just a few more years for me and I'll be celebrating that one too. Quiet can be classy and more memorable, too. Have fun with your best friends and family. Linda
ReplyDeleteFirst of all Happy Birthday Delores! I barely remember my sixtieth birthday. I know my boys came over and cooked steaks on the grill and that's about it. I think you will have a very memorable birthday. Good for you, get out there and celebrate! By the way, the cakes are beautiful.
