Eat, Pray, Love

Eat, pray, love! Or in Italian: mangia, pregare, amore!

MANGIA!

Chefs prepping for the evening meal.

Fiocchi, delicate pear "purses" with gorgonzola sauce at Ristorante Natalino

Spinach tortelli with sage and parmesian at Ristorante Natalino

Fresh, hot waffle sandwich with vanilla gelato and drizzled with chocolate!

Dinner with "the boys" at Buca Mario!

PREGARE!

Niche on the corner of a building.

The sun lighting up a vignette on the Duomo.

Saint Margaret Church, built in 1032. Also known as Dante's Church because this is where he first saw his beloved Beatrice, whom he fell in love with at first sight. His love for her inspired his "Dolce Stil Novo," or Sweet New Style, leading poets and writers to discover the themes of love, or amore.

AMORE!

Love!

  2. Great post title. Very clever.
The bins of vegetables are so appetizing and appealing. No wonder the meals are so special all the time as they must be inspired when they shop.

  5. Dearest Delores,

Yes, FOOD and SOUL FOOD that is all about Italy! You clearly did drink in its rich culture, like the ancient Churches with all its antiquities and rich history. Dantes of course does send a message for people even into the twenty-first century! So glad that both of you got to soak up on that, JIT = Just In Time before winter. That Soul Food will last you both (all three!) a long time to come...
We too had a great authentic Italian dinner with authentic cuisine from the Emilia Romagna (Bologna) region by Lady Chef an friend Maria Runggaldier from Bolzano. Together with my dear friend from Escondido...

Have a great time and safe journey back!
    Sunny greetings from Georgia,

  19. Delores, I hope you are having a fabulous time! The food looks amazing. I grew up with a Nanny from Sicily that was the best cook ever. I have yet to find any Italian dish in the US that compares to hers. Thanks for taking us along on your trip.
