Bringing Home The Tree

We don't have our tree yet so I'm feeling quite nostalgic about the traditions surrounding bringing the Christmas tree home.

You see, we always made it a family activity.
But our family is grown and we are hanging on to the tradition by a thread.

I'm hoping tomorrow night, Mr. A and I, along with Alex and the dog can bring our tree home from Steve's Christmas Tree Lot.

Then, it will feel like Christmas!

Do you have your tree yet?

Yes we do, but we just had to get it down from the rafters. I too, miss the fun times at the tree lot with 3 little guys running around in the mud. The cold air, the scent of pine. Those are such happy memories. Now we are making new memories.
xoxo Merry Christmas,
Kathysue

PS went to Costco and bought a wreath. Home Depot had some a wee bit fuller and larger but almost twice the price. I got one from each place.

We cut our tree down on Friday...we started that tradition last year, since we always use to use artifical.
Looking forward to seeing what you do this year Delores...your home is always an inspiration!

We always cut our tree in the nearby mountains. We usually take a picnic and our cross country skis.
This year we will be in Europe for Christmas. I will miss our tradition.

Love the pictures. I am so late this year with decorating. I will be starting mine tomorrow. It will be different than what I am use to.

Like you, I still do not have my tree up yet. I love real trees and for the first time in many years we are going to cut down our own real tree. I just could not forego the fragrance of the real thing another year. I hope to bring home our tree Saturday. I can't wait! Have a wonderful Christmas and do yourself a favor, never give up the tradition of bringing home a real tree, even if it's just a little one. Merry Christmas!

We've got a tradition of Dec. 15th and then it has to stay up till Jan.6th. No idea why, it's just that grandma always insisted the tree stay up till the feast of the three kings and so it does. :) This year I'm in our home in England as of the 12th so plenty of time to get the tree by the 15th. :)

How I love a real tree, and had one all my growing up, and the first couple of years of married life, until one fell a little too close to one of our little ones. So it's been a fake one for 14 years, and I must admit, I love that it affords me the extra time of putting it up early so we can enjoy it as long as possible. But I do miss that fresh pine sent, so I always by a fresh wreath for indoors.

I'm with you, friend! Because of keeping family traditions alive I allowed myself to get our tree the day after Thanksgiving because all of our kids were home! ( and…I must admit, I wanted the help of the guys to haul it in and put on the lights!) no more sap on my hands! Lol! But I know what you mean…with just the two of us it's hard to keep doing all that we used to do when the kids were home! They all want us to wait until they get back to do all of this but that just isn't possible! Loved this nostalgic post!

My husband and son used to cut down the tree each year, until Son grew up and moved away. Then,Hubby and I took the easy way out, and bought an artificial tree, but I still love using fresh greenery in the house.

Yes, our tree lives in a box in the attic all year. Ha ha. But I still love to see it when it all comes together.
