While our house was on the market, we have been making do with very little in our San Francisco flat that we're renting.
Every day, I bring more of the things that I love to our flat.
These are items that didn't go to storage.
Items that make me happy to be around, like my bar cart--the first piece of furniture I purchased for our new home.
I've been creating little vignettes instead of leaving everything in boxes.
Even if it means layers of clutter.
A folding Costco table is a place holder for our dining room table which should be arriving next week.
Notice the chandelier? I'm thinking of switching it out during our stay. It's just way too big and dangerous. Also I hate it!
It's been over 30 years since we've been renters.
It will be nice when we get our sofas in the living room as sitting on the wicker settee is getting old!
I'm wondering how to make this flat feel like our home without changing too much. I'm going for a casual, comfortable and cozy vibe
It's definitely going to be a challenge!

Delores,
I am so enjoying these posts about your transition! My husband and I are two weeks behind you. Two weeks from today we move from our home in the suburbs to a temporary apartment for seven months while our new home in the city is being renovated. However, we are on the opposite coast.
I am looking forward to seeing how things progress with your new home.
All the best,
Susan
Delores, it looks beautiful and I'm sure that you will make it breathtaking. Keep posting your updates!!! ♥ My sister and her hubby have rented condos for 20 years. They paint, have even tiled backsplashes, bathrooms, hung chandeliers, replaced carpet. Their place is so pretty and warm. They made their small patio really great too. Home is where the heart is!
Oh Lordy, I would want to change that chandy too! Yikes!:):) You will make this place so warm and inviting, I know. Do you know how long you will be there? Could you rent a comfy sofa:):)
Once a NESTER always a NESTER! Even if it is temporary you are making it fit YOU. I love that about you.

Your vignettes are making that flat an adorable temporary home! Can't wait to see all the changes!

Delores, there is no doubt in my mind that you will create a warm and inviting nest within this temporary abode. It's already beginning to take shape. The mustard crock full of hydrangeas makes a perfect centerpiece.
Enjoy the process!
When is your new home expected to be complete? The flat probably already looks better than it ever has with the few things you have there. You have the magic touch!
I can't wait to see the charming abode you set up! Let it rip...
I'm going to miss your old home. I loved it when you painted the window casings black! Stunning!!!!I must say I'm always up for an adventure and I'm looking forward to seeing yours unfold.

How long will you be there? I must have missed that somewhere?
Delores,
You've done a great job of making your temporary rental comfortable. It's fun to follow along on this journey, we may sizing down in the not too distant future so I appreciate the tips you've shared.

Enjoying your transition posts, Delores. I know the transition began with a thought/idea and progresses.
I love what you are doing with the flat. I did the same for our little "getaway", during the transition, apartment and so happy we made the decision to do this.
Hoping our interested guy makes a decision to sign on for our home. It's been a grueling couple of months in a not so friendly market in our neck of the woods. Found a new home, perfect for us. Now if things will just sort of fall into place!
Looking forward to more of your posts. Always inspiring!
I love what your doing already!! Yes that chandy has to go!
I have a few high end rental clients and we are making the best of their homes. Yes, I think you should change the light fixture. May be a while until you move. We even had our rental painted. You are a nester so I know you will be making it so pretty….love your bar cart…just love all you do!
Hope to see you soon….have a lot of travel coming up though. Would love to have you over.
I guess I missed that this was a rental. I'm confused, have you found a house to buy or are you building?
Delores, The rental is already looking great. I bet you are really anxious for the construction to be complete so you can move into your new home. I am looking forward to following along as you renovate and decorate.
Hugs,
Sherry
