We try to end the night around the fire pit as much as possible when we're in Asti.
Whether it's dead of winter or a warm summer evening, sitting around the campfire is a magical time that unites us in a sort of primeval gathering, watching the fire crackle, the sparks fly and smelling the smoke. It's a time of story telling, laughter and s'mores.
I remember sitting around the fire as a little girl feeling lucky that my parents were letting me stay up late, just like we did when we let the granddaughters stay up late the other night. They will never forget those nights in Asti and neither will we.

They sure do!
Hi D, they sure do and very special memories. We have a chimnea on our patio and I can remember all the times we sat out there with special people, sometimes wrapped up in blankets, sometimes watching night swimming, or like you, making smores. Nothing better!
Thank you for the walk down memory lane,
Kathysue

They sure do! We hope to build a fire pit in our backyard next year ... can't wait! Happy week!
Delores, I have such fond memories of sitting around the campfire on summer evenings with my Dad and Mom and sometimes family friends, and it was just as you describe--staying up extra late, telling stories and jokes and toasting marshmallows. The cool air and mosquitoes did not bother us when we were all together, and I can still smell the pine scent of the smoke! Thank you for reminding me of those special times when I would just sit with my Dad. I miss him so much, but you have brought back to my mind those happy moments. Linda
What a great way to end the day, Delores! I love to light a fire on the first cool evenings of Fall. I agree, some of the best conversations and memories are created around the fire!
