It seems that antique stores and collectives are slowly disappearing, thanks to eBay and online shopping venues like One Kings Lane, etc.
So I was pleasantly surprised to see a new store open in my town.
Just around the corner from my daughter's house is Mozo's Antique Search and Rescue.
I stopped in for a look-see and was so happy to see my two old friends, Moe and Lisa!
They have always been hunters and gatherers, so it just seemed right to them to partner up and open a store.
Moe is one of the most creative people I know. She owned a very successful clothing boutique in town for over 35 years and designs her own line of fingerless gloves (above), so she knows a thing or two about selling and merchandising.
I have several pairs of her gloves and even bought a new pair while there.
Lisa is also very creative.
She had her own catering company for years and has a design business called DaisyBrady Design and Artifact that will be opening in the back of the store soon.
They have gathered a collection of fun, beautiful, eccentric antiques and collectibles that caught my eye, like this old print...
...and this Jeanne d'Arc statue.
How cool is this bottle?
I seriously considered buying it and adding it to my amber bottle collection.
Or even adding it to my bar that I set up in Asti (here).
Notice the spider web? It would be a cool Halloween decoration too.
I left it behind and can't get it out of my mind!
What I didn't leave behind though is this antique wicker trunk.
Now, where to put it?
No worries, I will definitely find a place.
I'm thinking it will make a great coffee table or be fabulous at the foot of a bed.
Or, it could be a toy box for my granddaughters when they come to visit.
While I caught up with Moe and Lisa, my eye wondered, taking it all in.
There is a collection of cool necklaces and little artifacts...
...shelves of little collectibles.
Just a lot of really cool stuff.
I can't wait to go back and will probably be their most loyal customer!
I believe that even though we can find what we're looking for or collecting on eBay and other online sites, people still want to experience the thrill of the hunt.
Don't you?

I am with you. While I love Ebay as much as anyone, we need to support some brick and mortar stores to keep that option alive! This looks like a great place to browse and find treasures!
I love that rusted metal bracket...in fact, I always look at brackets in any store! And what a find this place is: hard to leave without buying something!!
You are so right about the antique stores going away, and I miss them. There was one I used to go to when I still lived in Birmingham, and it had been there forever, and someone came and bought the building and they were gone. It was a store I went in probably about once a month and I had bought many things from them which I still have. You are lucky to have found a new store. Enjoy.
Thanks, Patty at Home and Lifestyle Design
What a fabulous place! I would much rather shop in an actual store than buy online. Much more fun, I think.
Oh yes it is the thrill of the hunt, I was even shopping your pictures, lol. So funny, once you start thrifting or antiquing it never leaves your system. Great little shop!

Yes, I love the thrill of the hunt on Saturday mornings, but sadly I have also purchased some of my treasures on eBay and Etsy for a fraction of the Saturday hunt shops prices. I would prefer to give all of my business to local retailers, but some have outrageous prices on collectibles, especially things that are French Country.
Oh how I want that wicker trunk! And I can't believe you passed up that bottle, I want it too!
I am like you... I luv the thrill of the hunt. I like to see and touch!
Last Tuesday my Mother and i spent the entire morning roaming Antique and Collectable Stores. Luckily we still have a few in our City.
Happy Holiday Weekend.

It's always great to see new stores opening in our areas. I love shopping the local stores, and restaurants. It looks like Mozo's has some great pieces. Love the wicker trunk you bought.
Have a great Labor Day weekend.
I'm with you, Delores. I like to "search and rescue" treasures first hand. I do buy on eBay on occasion, but I much prefer to buy in a shop. Just browsing a shop is sheer entertainment for me.
Love the trunk! Enjoy your weekend.........sarah
Love the Hunt. I avoid Target' like the plague but can spend hours poking here & there. Our town is about to have a four church rummage sale next weekend,. A hunters paradise! As i sort donations Ive thought of you (plaid coolers and vintage bar utensils). Any hunters inthe Chicago area look for the Tribune mention.
I definitely appreciate the thrill of the hunt. I just don't get that satisfaction from eBay. I've heard other women in Goodwill talking about the same thing. :-)
What a fantastic article! I am also a friend of Moe's and one of the jewelry designers featured in her store. This post captured its spirit beautifully - and I'm glad to have discovered your wonderful blog. New follower here! :) Robyn
Thank you Dolores for this beautiful blog! As mentioned, I am opening DasiyBrady Artifact & Design located in the back 'warehouse', which just does not do it justice! When the afternoon light filters in through the vintage, chicken-wire window panes, it feels like you are in an soft, white, ethereal space. Can't wait to 'stage' all my favorites things. It's a work in progress, but come visit anytime. Mozo's is hopping!
All the best Dolores:)

What a great antique store Mozo's seems to be! I agree with you that there is something much more special about being in an actual store rather than searching for things online. I am new to blogging and just did a similar blog on a fabulous antique store in my town, Corner Antiques, at beautifulbydesign.co Thank you for sharing.
