Our Wine Country Guest Room

This is our guest bed in our weekend home in Asti. Although it is for guests, we end up sleeping here most of the time!

The reason? We sleep better here than anywhere! I want it to feel like being pampered at a fine hotel. The mattress is no longer available, and I cannot even remember what brand it is, but for some reason it is extra soft. Like sleeping on a cloud. I found the high thread count sheets at TJ Maxx. They're like silk.

I bought this pillow from Leeann at Fabulously French.

It is so quiet here. No airplane noise, no cars, no television, just silence. There is a little collection of vintage books on the dresser to peruse.

I've stocked the bathroom with fluffy white towels and scented soaps.

In the morning, it's so nice to sit in here and have our coffee.

And enjoy this view from the french doors.

Can you tell I'm looking forward to the long weekend? We will be celebrating our 28th wedding anniversary this weekend. Three full days of quiet. Three full days of doing nothing but watching the birds and maybe a little gardening.
I can't wait!

I'm linking up to Cindy and My Romantic Home for Show and Tell Friday, and Laurie at Bargain Hunting With Laurie for Favorite Things Saturday.

Don't forget to enter my giveaway here. I will announce the winner on Sunday.
Wishing everyone a wonderful, relaxing three day weekend.
Happy Memorial Day.

I am in love with that bed ... the draping, the bedding, the colors and the bedding itself. We have a getaway in Galena, Illinois and this is the look that maybe I have been looking for. I've been thinking beds but life has been too busy to really delve into this. You may have saved me a ton of time.
Thanks have a great holiday weekend.

♫ ♫ "Happy 28th wedding anniversary, Delores & Mr. Vignette!!"♫ ♫

What a spectacular & special space to renew your commitment to each other & the celebrate the wonderful life you have. I wish you many, many more healthy & happy years together.

These rooms are so serene & inviting...it reminds me of a spa. The view is just breathtaking! I bet you never get tired of it.

We've been to the Napa Valley & stayed in a similar bed & breakfast with such views. I'll have to dig out my notes about that trip to remember the name.

Our friend's wife was co-hosting a silent auction & she asked him to get the bidding going on a dinner for 6 at the Beringer Winery. He put down $5000 & no one bid after him!! LOL We got to go with them & what a wonderful trip it was. I saved the labels from the wines & everything. Fun memories!
May you have many more just like it!

fondly,
Rett

Happy Anniversary! Mr. Privet and I will have 24 years of wedded bliss in September! Oh, what I would give for three uninterrupted days with views like these in which to celebrate! You have such a beautiful touch in everything that you do, Delores and this wee house is no exception. Funny, we call our bed at home THE CLOUD! Wonderful to sleep on one, isn't it? Okay, I'm going to finish this comment and then scroll up and take it all in, again. LOVELY!

This post had a series of happy shocks for me. Firstly, what a lovely and comfortable room. The sense of quiet, peace and rest you describe encourages me to keep striving for that here. (We have it but, being Mom, there's a lot to keep up with. =]) Secondly, the view of the rolling hills and oaks goes so straight to the depths of my heart. I probably mentioned before that my Dad is from SLO - I haven't been there for 11 years. I miss it so much! Thirdly, of course, *gasp* it's your anniversary! I wish you a wonderful weekend!

Love, katy Noelle

Delores, I've said it before - I want to come stay in your guest house! What luxury. What comfort. What beauty! I'm afraid I'd never leave.

On a sad note, I googled your cousin and read about him. I do remember when that happened. So sad and shocking-even for those of us who didn't know him. I can just imagine how it must have been for you. It's just so difficult to get over the loss of someone so young, with so much life yet to live.

Hope you have a wonderful anniversary (Don't worry, I don't plan to barge into your guesthouse this weekend!) Thank you so much for linking this to Favorite Things (by the way, I love your new Frenchy pillow). laurie
