Shopping My House

Just for fun and giggles, I brought the dining room drapes into the kitchen, just to see how it would look.

The fabric looks great next to the green cabinets and is an unexpected touch, while warming up the room.

If I end up repurposing the drapes, I would hang them on a wooden rod with rings, like all the other drapes in the house.  I found the perfect rods at Restoration Hardware, and they're on sale!

But what to do about the dining room windows?  I could have new drapes made, or shop my house.
This is the living room fabric.  I do like it in here, plus I have eight panels.  Four for the windows and four to cut up and slipcover the Parsons chairs.

Which would free up the living room to do something new and fresh.
Uh oh, here we go!

So beautiful!! I just noticed your kitchen was done! {where have I been?!} LOVE it! I also was wondering what are those dishes {I've been seeing them on a few blogs etc} called that are white, labeled with 'Margarine', 'Pure Lard', 'Cheese', etc? Those little dishes are so cute! I tried searching on ebay and etsy, but didn't seem to find anything with what I was typing in.

Isn't it fun to shop the house? I find it more enjoyable than shopping the stores. Makes for a greater challenge!

I love the drapes in the kitchen! They seemed to be made for it! I never move stuff around in my own house and I need to start trying that! I think I'm always too tired of it by the time I get home from my shop! Keep us posted with the updates on what you decide about the living room!
Have a great weekend!

I'd like to shop your house. When do the doors open?
Seriously, Delores, I think it's a great idea to repurpose textiles if you can. Love these fabrics. I know what ever decision you make, every room will look fabulous.

Love that you have your own ideas and are not just following all the fads out there. The traditional look with color and flowers is never really out of style. Lots of the blogs out there are all beginning to look al;ike.

I have that very fabric on some pillows. I love to shop my house! The drapes look so good in your kitchen and I especially like the layered look with your blinds. What a fun dilemma

Hey the ones in your kitchen look like the ones I just took down in my bedroom. Are they Waverly (I think) in a dark brown with flowers? If so I have two panels along with the valance if you need more. They are all yours if you'll just pay shipping. I'm at whimseyc@bellsouth.net Let me know. They do look lovely in your kitchen - makes it look so warm and inviting!

Hi Deloris,
SOooooo pretty...love the curtains in the kitchen and love the whole kitchen redo...I hadn't commented before but you just have to know what a great job you did with the cabinets and the new fridge...You are smart to find beautiful things to display in the fridge as well..it all looks so welcoming and inviting. Whatever you do next will be great as usual....and I also love the drape fabric in the front room. Are you still thinking of painting the kitchen white? Sharon

I too have been shopping my house recently as my nearly year-long kitchen renovation is finally coming to an end. Great fun, isn't it, to reuse things you already have in new and exciting ways. Your dining room curtains are perfection in the kitchen; an ideal combination with the green of your cabinets. I like the change in the dining room as well. Then, oh joy, something new for the living room.
Best...Victoria

Shop the house Bravo!

I just have to say.......(I adore you and your blog)

"Drapes" is just the wrong term. You have to learn that!

"Drape" is a verb! (how fabric drapes) Curtains is what goes on the windows!

That is what they are......"curtains"! And I love , love , yours....and they beautifully illustrate my mother's rule (which you know from somewhere!!)

buy what you love.....and you can always move; mix it up, move it all around your house.......and you can always......."shop in your house"!!

I swear to God.......she said that in 1979! She died in 1981!!

Fabulous post! We love reusing things..and recycling things.......that is the future!!

and why not?

When we built our house......not one fabric I used was 'new" not one. I love old textiles and fabrics....and we have 3 sets of slipcovers.......we are heading towards summer! I better take pictures of "Spring" inside!!

However...I love the second ones pictured, and think they would look lovely in your home.
Blessings to you,
