I'm convinced that dogs love Christmas too.
I know Dexter did.
He loved being in the middle of it all, especially when we unwrapped our gifts!
Of course, he had a tartan vest that he wore proudly when we went Christmas shopping.
Yes, Christmas makes me think of Dexter...

I've found myself wishing for a puppy under the tree lately!
Thank goodness, Pinterest has a plethora of Christmas dog photos to satisfy my urge to rush out and get a dog!
Just look how happy this dog looks with his red bow?
My all time favorite!
He looks so proud and handsome in his hand-made scarf.
The three wise dogs!
Sorry, I can't help myself!
Why do I torture myself with these darling Christmas dogs?
Look how much the dogs love Santa!
Who knows, maybe Santa will surprise me!

Dogs are the best gift we humans have received from our Lord! They are sweet, lovable, warm, smart and adorable!!! I miss Ben every C'mas, this one is the second C'mas without our beloved pug. Beautiful images you showed and your Dexter looks like he was a darling..aaand yes, dogs love Christmas too!

Oh yes my friend. Dogs indeed do love Christmas. At least Franz and Rudi the doxies think so. :)
A new companion will never replace your Dexter but they can add so much to your world.
Yes, I believe they do. We always wrapped a box of treats and put it under the tree for our dog and she always found it and unwrapped it! This year, my son JUST (a week and a half ago) rescued a chocolate lab. He is bringing her up with him from Fl. so we will see how SHE likes Christmas!!! XO, Pinky
*** Dear Dexter-loving Delores~
My heart is with you even MORE than you can possibly imagine right now, my friend... we lost our most loving, wonderful Belle, our beautiful German Shorthaired Pointer (hunting dawg) just weeks ago. My Jim is on his "annual bird hunting trip" w/ longtime friends, and he brought her ashes, & spread them over the field(s) they all hunted with her for many years, and then toasted to that incredibly loving, & wonderful hunting/bird dog, w/ a Brandy & some even smoked a cigar... Jim called to tell me the tribute was reeeally nice, & all the guys were touched too... We miss her sooooo much.
So, please know that I am thinking of you as my eyes still well up with tears for my precious Belle-girl...
Loving them is so easy~~~ losing them is indescribably painful...
God bless & XO,
Linda

Delores, pets are like children, each with their own personality. It's especially hard during the holidays to not remember how they fit into our world. Our Sam left us in 2005 and there is not one holiday or one big meal where we don't miss him. How he would beg a carrot when I was cooking, or lie in front of the tree, or by the fire. Hugs are all I can offer you today. xo marlis
Yes! They do love being in the middle of it all. We have two English Springers and they are part of all our family activities:) We took ours to the tree farm a couple weeks ago and Newfi's were there.. pulling freshly cut trees. I did a blog post on it two weeks ago. It was lots of fun:)

And somewhere there's a darling dog just longing for you Delores - you'll find each other!
These photos are just heavenly... how sweet they all are... Have a happy, happy Christmas Dolores... xv
It's hard to fill that hole in the heart that a good dog leaves, when he has passed on. Dexter was gorgeous, and I know what you mean about loving to me in the middle of everything. That's the wonderful thing about dogs, they love to be involved in whatever their family is doing.
Merry Christmas
Terri
Oh I really feel your pain. Our dog (and my sidekick) died just 10 days ago. He DID love Christmas. Thanks for the smile.
Oh! I do so hope you find another! There are so many who need a loving home!
My friend rescued a little dog halfway down an on-ramp to the freeway in downtown Los Angeles! I was just going to "foster" her (we have a two dog rule)!
Well; we now have two dogs and a "back up"!! The most adorable sweet character!!
And they know when they are rescued!! And are grateful!
Oh, you're ready alright. Go for it!
They are the best. Mine is next to me as I type this. I don't think I could be without one. Maybe after the holidays you'll think of it again - and find a new fluffy love.

I think of our belovedcassie all the time. The hard part is not to put out her Xmas stocking. We have a picture of her hanging in an ornament. Take care
I think of my buddy every holiday too and I haven't been able to replace her, even after 21 years. I get my dog fix by visiting the grand-dogs. Thanks for sharing this touching story.
I love this post! Benji however is looking to be the one dog who doesn't love the holidays! He nearly had a heart attack when I put him in his Santa outfit and he ran out of the pet store when I tried a tartan dog collar on him :(.
Well I guess he won't want Dexter's tartan vest then...!
Our dog, a Westie, loved loved loved getting on our bed on Christmas morning. Our daughter would come in and open her stocking, and help the dog open hers..But it was the tissue paper that our dog loved the most!! Something about the crinkle maybe? Or maybe she just loved the start of the special day, or may watching the little girl who was so excited? Anyway, it was magical for all of us!
So sorry your furry one is gone. :(
They sure are a big part of the holidays. My dogs and cats have to be right with us whatever we are doing, decorating or wrapping gifts, or cooking --- they lay at the foot of the stove!
Hard to live without them once they wrap their loving hearts around ours.

Great pics.

We need to plan for another Tartan Parade!
May be the dog whisperer can give you an answer but I'm pretty sure they do.
Even-of course- they don't know it is
Christmas, the feel there is something
special and exciting around. Cute...

I lost my sweet Duncan 4 years ago on New Years Eve, so I know what it is like to miss your "best friend". This year however, will be different - I finally was able to open my heart to a new furbaby, and this will be our first Christmas together, and I am positive he will love Christmas just as much as my Duncan did. Getting him was the best thing I have done for myself in a long time - almost sorry I waited so long to love another dog again.
it's been so fast and furious for the past couple of weeks that I just haven't been on the computer. I've missed a bit! This doggy post is ADORABLE! I mean, how cute is that?! =D
and, your home is perfectly suited to this holiday - so warm and welcoming and your Christmas dinner sounds DELICIOUS! =] We have persimmons, too, and had to go on quite a search for them, this year. My sister always makes her flaming Christmas pudding with them - yum! persimmons with wild rice sounds 'out of this world' yum!
I hope that it was a pleasant holiday for all of you and I'm wishing you a lovely, lovely new year! Best wishes!!! =]
