One does not merely sit in a chaise longue, one lounges.
Which could be why it is mistakenly called a chaise lounge.
The chaise longue which is French for "long chair," was also called a fainting couch in Victorian times, possibly because their tight corsets caused them to faint?
I love this traditional chaise with its button tufting which looks very sophisticated in this room...
...and yet this denim button tufted chaise looks very playful in this girl's room by PBTeen.

I've always been intrigued by the idea of a pair of chaises in a room.
Uh, maybe this pair should be looking out the window?
Chaises fit into so many different rooms.
Here, they're at home in a sunroom or enclosed porch.
Talk about daydreaming!

A chaise longue in a bathroom invites one to take your time...
...and pampers you with leisure time.
It's almost like a vacation!
The same is true in a dressing room.
This room is such a fantasy. I would seriously sacrifice a bedroom to create a dressing room like this, complete with a chaise longue!
I have an overstuffed, slipcovered chaise in my bedroom that is not lounged in often enough! It seemed the perfect choice to fill up a corner in the room, but the added bonus is that there is a corner in our home to retreat to, read, relax and rejuvenate.
Perchance to dream....

Aaahhh. They all look so relaxing!
I have two chaise longues on my lanai. They overlook the pool and the lake beyond. They are perfect spots for relaxing or reading. My dog Bella thinks they are hers. She is a very smart dog.
I had one in our bedroom in a previous house but gave it away when we moved...now you have me thinking I should have kept it!
Ooohhh boy. I have been going through a 'why did I do that ' time, and you just added to it. I had one in our old home and sold it when we were moving. WHY???
The above pictures are so dreamy!
Sigh...

I do love the one I have. My father in law drives me insane calling it a "chase lounge" and making fun of me for saying it correctly! He is a Philistine, what can I say...
I've always wanted a soft cushion chaise to cozy up on to read a book. The over-sized ones interest me for our media room. We generally end up lounging on the sofa or feet up somewhere,so we may as well set it up for comfort.
How beautiful, Delores! It is perfect in the corner of your bedroom. I could sit there and read for hours!
They all look SO relaxing and inviting! My favorite picture though is the first, everything is perfect, to me.
I don't have a chaise, but I have a spot left in my family room that would be the perfect spot. Oh yes, I do have a wicker chaise in the sun room, but it is not the MOST comfortable one in the world. I need new cushions with more stuffing for it. Maybe, that needs to be on my wish list. You shared some lovely ones, but I like yours best!!
I have always wanted one. But, every time I see one I like it more than the one before. Just haven't found my exact favorite yet.

That chaise looks like pure heaven right now!
I love this place great use of color. I would love to spend my weekend in a beautiful place like that. Amazing!

They are lovely but I prefer a cozy wing chair, pillow and ottoman, so much more versatile for my small budget. Never had one though so may not know what I'm missing.
Being so short I am always uncomfortable in regular furniture pieces.
A chaise lounge works for me much better as I can adjust my position many ways to avoid the constant strain on my back and legs.
I think I will look for one for my move coming up.... plus it would give me a spot to park my laptop while I get up to get more coffee or wine....ah to dream.
There is no better place to lounge than on a chaise longue...in the middle of the day with a magazine in a pool of sunlight :) Thank you for this beautiful selection! /Niki
