Planting The Kitchen Potager

It's that time of year again.
Planting time!

The sweet peas planted themselves and I hate to take them out yet to plant veggies, so I'll give them a few more weeks.

Mr. A wants them out now because he has summer squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, arugula, basil, parsley, sage and more to plant.

 This is the herb section.
I asked him plant some Nasturtiums in this bed.  They're supposed to be good in salads.

Bear loves to oversee everything and soak up the sun.

Oscar is exhausted.
Planting a garden is hard work!

My favorite author Margaret Atwood once said; "In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt."
Mission accomplished!

The bamboo trellises can be purchased at Gemplers, here.

Where can I find the bamboo frames?
How do you protect the garden from rabbit's and the like?

Hi D! Looking good!! How fun to have your very own fresh veggies. I don't plant a garden but hope to some day. My Mom always plants something. I think there is a little farmer in her. ENJOY!

My husband is a vegetables only kind of gardener, too. He's killed many lovely flowers in the name of horticulture. Jo @ Let's Face the Music

Love your garden, with the raised beds. I have visions of things sectioned off....like in Its Complicated movie. The house in the last pic in the distance reminded me of the one in the movie too. Is that your home?

I saw your handsome bamboo trellis and decided that is exactly what I wanted in our garden. So I printed off the page and we are going to make our own out of the stalks from our white pampas grass bush. Thank you for sharing this wonderful idea!

Love the rural rustic feel to it (potager)
Yet perfection in its own beauty. The boxes have weathered in that perfect shade of grey.

Love the poetic view.
