Our kitchen was finally completed in November and we couldn't be happier with how it turned out!
I have to say, I was a little nervous with the black backsplash choice, but in the end, I wouldn't change a thing.
The countertops and backsplash are honed granite which mimics soapstone. I designed the curved stone behind the stove to highlight the copper pots.
The grasscloth wallcovering was always the plan. I've had it for a long time and luckily there was more than enough to wrap the entire kitchen and family room walls.
I especially love how it works with the backsplash.
At the opposite end of the room, we hung the tv on the wall with the pine buffet anchoring it.
Gray herringbone chairs flank the buffet.
A soft leather sofa faces the tv.
I had the electrician install the library lights not knowing what would end up on the walls.
I found these botanical prints to fill up the big wall which was too shallow to put a piece of furniture on it.
The new French doors will be dressed with white linen drapes offering both privacy and respite from the afternoon sun.
I remember a day when all metals had to match. It's still being done, but I chose to mix the metals. There's the polished nickel hardware and faucet mixed with the gilded island pendants and sconces. Brass library lights, bronze door hardware, and don't forget the copper pots! It all works.
It's hard to believe this project is finished!

Your kitchen looks lovely! I really like honed black countertops. Very classy. What make are your gorgeous copper pots? I have a Mauviel copper fry pan and am very happy with it. I am now craving more copper cookware. We have the same Fisher & Paykel refrigerator, which we just got in September. Love it!! Your range is beautiful, too.

I love your kitchen, Delores! I especially love the grasscloth wall covering. You have a beautiful aesthetic.
Worth the wait! Just beautiful! Enjoy and here's to you making the best meals in that beautiful kitchen!!!
Hi Claudia,
My pots are collected over time. Some found in antique stores, some found at Homegoods!
Delores
Beautiful! Looks like you!!
EEEEEEKKKKK!!!!!! So beautiful!! Your best kitchen, yet! I especially love your countertops. I'm trying to decide on soapstone or not. I know you had soapstone once before. Can you tell me why you chose honed granite for this kitchen instead? Also, where did you find your rug? It's beautiful!
This is simply spectacular! I especially love that even though your cabinets are white, I would never call this a "white kitchen" which in my view is utterly boring and overdone. All of your choices are beautiful and timeless!! Thank you as always for sharing!!
Love how it all turned out! I mixed metals in my kitchen too. I used brushed nickel, antique brass and copper.
Your kitchen is beautiful! I am curious about the honed granite counter tops and if they will show dust in the sunlight. I have such an issue with this in my kitchen, and my counter tops are a light corian. I like the idea of the honed finish. I'm loving the mixture of metal finishes and the grass cloth walls. Everything looks lovely together.
Beautiful, elegant and functional, what more could be said. It's great!
Gorgeous! I'm may be a bit biased as those are the same choices I made for our kitchen! Even the wallcovering.
Wow! It's stunning! I love everything about your kitchen, Delores! And now it's ready for Christmas!
Beautiful kitchen makeover. You sure know how to design and decorate.
It's beautiful!
It's just beautiful!! Well done. We went with black soapstone here and love it. I like the looks of your honed granite too! The grass-cloth is a nice touch for added texture.
