It's Raining Cats and Dogs in California!

What a difference six months makes!
Above is the view from our Wine Country home on Monday morning. It rained so hard, the Russian River overflowed it's banks. Water was blowing in under the doors and the wind was incredible! We haven't seen a storm like this in California for two years.

The same view six months ago. Please, hurry up Spring!

I braved the weather to take a few pictures of the neighboring vineyard.

And saw that the wild turkeys are back!

Back in the house to dry off, warm up by the fire and sip more morning coffee.

We left around two for the two hour drive back home. It was very scary. We actually thought we were hit by lightening! But it was just static on the radio when the sky lit up. There were 65 mph winds on the Golden Gate Bridge. Apparently, the worst storm will hit tomorrow.
California is in for a very wet and stormy week!

I'm joining Susan at A Southern Daydreamer for Outdoor Wednesday. Please visit her for more outdoor photography.

Weather in California usually arrives on the prairie -- hope it comes in the form of rain and not snow!

Oh sweetie, I'm been thinking about you wondering how you're doing. I hope you got home ok... How scary the drive must have been for you. It is now raining here. Nothing like what you have.. at least our rain will help wash away some of the remaining snow and salt. I'll be praying you don't have any damage..

Ah yes..I think it's raining really Big cats and dogs. I live in Sacramento and have a weekend house we will NOT be visiting this week. it's in the mountains just this side of Tahoe. Your wine country home is fabulous and your view spectacular, even on a rainy day.

Here in the LA area, the weather was weird today. It was gloomy and misty early morning then the sun showed up noon time.

Lovely fireplace to warm up!

You are having very unusual weather for your part of the world. However, the weather everywhere this year has not been normal. Trust you will see sunny skies soon.

You have a lovely view with those windows and a nice fireplace to curl up and read a good book until that storm blows away. You certainly were brave to go get those nice images.

I hear you! We're up on the North Coast...crazy rain, we may as well live in a cave! All the fields are flooded, but there was a nice rainbow the other day. Your house is gorgeous!

I was amazed to hear that there was at least one tornado in CA. That seemed highly unusual to me...

Your photos are dramatic. The contrast is so real.

I have a bridge phobia...and it's tough enough crossing on a calm day....65 MPH winds, crossing that bridge? Oh lordy!!!

My wednesday sketch post is HERE if you'd like to stop by to view.

Tks Delores, Bovolo is now on my list for our next trip up, I think we will wait a few weeks though or at least until this rain goes away.

Even in rainy weather it looks beautiful there. I live in the Vancouver B.C. area so the blowing rain is nothing new to me.
Actually when I first looked at the picture of your cozy fireplace I thought there was snow on the branches of the tree on the right side of the fireplace outside. Yikes. That would be something.

What a view you have there in wine country. Rain or shine it looks very inspiring. I've just recently discovered your blog (as you have mine -Thank you, by the way) and so I'm looking forward to catching up and reading about you, your homes and your landscaping ideas. -Hoping I'll be prepared to tackle more in my garden when drier days arrive.
All the best to you and yours ~LeAnn

They said we would have an El Nino year and it looks like we just might! I'm down here in the South Bay and we just might wash away! Your wine country home is lovely. I hope it's far away from the Russian River. That darn thing overflows if you pour a glass of water into it! If it makes you feel any safer coming and going, they said on KRON that the GG Bridge is the only bridge not really affected by the high winds. That's our sturdy old gal!

Delores, I'm saying prayers for you. I saw on the news that people have been evacuated from some areas. I hope you aren't in that area. Everybody is going to be sooo ready for spring when it arrives. laurie

Your home is stunning. Your views are dreamy, even in this stormy weather.

I'm holding my breath over this weather we are having (I'm in SF peninsula in Highland Hills).

We had more hail, thunder and lightning just a bit ago, though I'd lose power again. The rain came down so hard and so loud it was a bit scary!

I'm ready to get out my glue gun and build me a boat ha! Burlap handles on the oars....yes? ha!

Stay safe and dry!

What a beautiful view, be it rain or shine. It sure is scary around here this week, isn't it? We're tucked in today having a picnic inside and just enjoying being cozy! Cute, cute bistro dishes and so appropriate for where we live! That Russian River sure is rolling, we walked down the other day and couldn't believe it! Take care.
