I know, I know, Saturday night seems like a silly time to post about a tablescape!
Hey, am I too late, or too early to link up to Susan at BNOP for Tablescape Thursday!?
I actually created this Christmas table last week for a contest.
The Adventures of Tartanscot is the host, and there are three categories for submission.
The Christmas mantel, the Christmas tree and the Christmas tablescape/dining room. Of course, I entered all three categories!
It all began last Sunday when Mr. A and I went to the big flea market in Alameda. It was raining, and most of the dealers were packing up, when I spotted a piece of fabric on a table with lots of vintage linens.
It was a wool paisley remnant. Then, I found another one! The dealer was in the mood to negotiate, so I bought them both.
I now had a foundation from which to build my tablescape. After a spin in the dryer with some Febreze, I put the two remnants on the table and joined them in the middle.
I was able to marry three of my favorite patterns: paisley, tartan plaid and leopard!
The red and green colors in the paisley work beautifully with the tartan plaid dishes--a recent purchase from Target! The majolica plate is vintage German majolica.
Crystal wine hocks make their debut. A recent acquisition, passed down to us from Mr. A's Mother!
My Mother-in-law's victorian urn takes center stage as the centerpiece. Talk about drama!
The dining room hutch is once again decked out for the holidays with red and white transferware and paperwhites.
It's not too late to enter the contest!
Just send in your photos to Tartanscotcontest@gmail.com

This tablescape is about to morph into my table for Book Club on Tuesday night.
I will keep the tablecloth because I love it so much, ditch the centerpiece for something to do with books, and hopefully come up with the perfect plates! Stay tuned!

Love your tablescape, especially the plaid plates.
It looks GREAT!!! And I'm glad to see you used the yellow plates with the plaid... looks fab!
Really gorgeous, Delores. You need to be featured in a magazine. Absolutely stunning! Love the mix of the leopard, tartan and paisley. I picked up those tartan plates last week for our Christams Eve dinner. My mom had an elegance, grace, passion and a knack with tablescapes like you do and enjoyed it so much. She would have enjoyed your blog, too. Seeing tonight's post so reminds me of her. I wish you a wonderful Sunday, Delores.
* Think you'll do SUPER WELL in the contest, D!!! This ALL looks soooo wonderfully warm, inviting and CREATIVELY INDIVIDUAL!!! (I can't even IMAGINE setting a table with everything "matchy-matchy"...that would be so, well... just "ewwww!")...
My dear Jim always finds it "interesting" about my incredibly deep love, affection & ever-growing, extensive collection of china, stemware, flatware, tablecloth fabrics, etc... (ESPECCCCCIALLY I guess, probably since I don't really COOK much anymore!)...
Setting tables/scapes is SOOOO FUN, but then he asks what I'm serving our guests and I always jokingly answer "You mean they want to actually EAT, too??? Geez!!!")...
Thanks for yet another F*U*N "dessert" this evening!
Hugs,
Linda *
It looks great, I lake it!!!
Beautiful photos!
Kisses and nice weekend.
Hello delores,
it is never too late or too early to show your beautiful tablescapes. Love all the details. I am so with paisley and that looks with the tartan pattern just great.
Greetings, Johanna
LOVE the placemats. We just bought a leopard duvet cover and it's just fun!!
Your tartan plates have inspired me!
Wow!!! This is totally stunning. I love everything about it. So pretty. Your hutch is just fabulous also. Gorgeous tablescape. Hugs, Marty
Ok, I am in serious love with everything you did, and in love, too, with the beautiful decor of the dining room itself. Everything is so me I cannot even tell you! I want to be a nearby friend so I can enjoy what you do in person :) Thanks for sharing the beauty of it all -- you are quite a talent.
I absolutely adore the mixture of all the elements. What great paisley pieces. Your wine hocks are gorgeous. Love this setting!
The leopard is eye catching, the tartan provides warmth and the overall look is...simply fabulous! I adore how you pulled various items together to create an inviting space. A month ago I bought tartan placemats for my family, planning on using them this week in a post.
Great idea and this combination is a surprise , a nice one! =D
Delores, Love, love this tablesetting. Contest or not I am so glad you posted it. It is truly wonderful!!!xo KATHYSUE
Delores, this table is stunning with the mix of fabrics and patterns. You know I love that hutch no matter how you decorate it. It would look good naked. That urn is fantastic. Such a cozy space to dine in. Good luck!
You nailed it Delores! This is a winner in my book. I especially love the combination of leopard, paisley and the tartan plaid. The cut crystal stemware is tres fabu! I bet Tartanscot's heart jumped when he saw these images...mine sure did.

Oh, you had me at Leopard!!! I have GOT to get those placemats, I just LOOOOVE them! And the tartan plates are fabulous! I entered the mantle part but didn't realize there is a table part too. I better get busy:):) But I am sure you could beat me hands down:):) This is just gorgeous. Lucky you to inherit those wonderful wine glasses!!!! XO, Pinky
LOVE the paisley - I've been looking for a woven paisley wool cloth just like this - as you probably discovered they are very hard to find - and so lucky to have found 2! Ralph has a gorgeous one but at over $400/yard I don't think that's happening. Lucky you!!
Delores,
Love the mix of tartan and paisley! This looks so warm and inviting....great job!
Thanks for sharing,
Gwen
What a beautiful table, every detail is perfect.
I never would have guessed that plaid and paisley would look so great together!
And the greenery sets everything off so well adding a wonderful holiday touch!
Love it all. . .

Have been looking over and over at this and just realized that the plants are DEER!!!! Now how DEAR is that???:):):) Perfect touch!
Deeee-vine: all of it! Your tablescapes speak to my love of layering! Can't get enough of your posts!!!!
Delores,
First, I must say how PROUD of you I am for not passing up that gorgeous fabric! ! ! You have certainly used it well with your eclectic mixture of dining accessories! I adore those Vintage German Majolica plates! Your hutch with the paperwhites in red buckets enriches the red and white transferware. Very elegantly shown, dear! No worry about being early, or late, just keep these inspiring post coming!
Fondly,
Pat
I love this tablescape, but I love anything that involves tartan!! You have done such a great job of combining colors and patterns to create a truly beautiful tablescape. I know your book club will love it and best of luck with the contest!
Kat :)

It is a work of art! Lovely! Diana
Beautiful! So Ralph Lauren!!
Delores, this is absolutely gorgeous. Do I say that every time I comment on your posts?? The plaid is beautiful with the majolica and the crystal and white napkins on the end settings add a refreshing note. No need for any other entries for the contest. Linda
Delores, it's always a perfect time to share a tablescape. Your's is gorgeous as always. I like the mix of the tartan, paisley, and leopard. You pull it off with great panache. Such fun to see your creative offerings. Good luck with the contest! ~ Sarah
Absolutely gorgeous and festive! Like you, I have a love of Tartan so I am totally captivated by your tablescape. Gorgeous.
Dearest Delores,
That was a clever idea to buy the two paisley remnants and merge them in the center! Looks great.
It makes a marriage of different cultures laid out on your table...Paisley is more Oriental; Tartan of course is Scottish and than a wild beast joins in. Great result.
Have a great week and enjoy your next project!
Mariette's Back to Basics
Absolutely beautiful as always !!!!
Your table is STUNNING! Who knew an animal print would pair so well with plaid and look great for the holidays? Beautiful!

Delores, if this tablescape doesn't win, I REALLY want to see the one that does win. It is stunning. That centerpiece container is incredible! And those beautiful candlesticks. All of the fabrics look so lush and coordinate so beautifully! And your stack of different china patterns are perfection! Yep! Definitely a winning table! Love it. laurie

Rushed over to my local Target the moment I saw your post. Darling this is scrumptious, simply scrumptious.
It takes real talent to produce such eye candy. Thanks for sharing.
This is so elegant and inspriational. If I had a glass of red wine, I'd never leave this table. Thanks so much for being a part of Seasonal Sundays. Now I'm off to the Targe website to see if I can get those plates!

Ok, I'm dying right now! LOVE your tablescape. Those little topiaries have caught my heart and I will not rest until I find some!!!
Your table is beautiful. All the elements have come together in perfect harmony. That victorian urn centerpiece is so beautiful. You've really done a fantastic job. Merry Christmas.
You have managed to blend all of my personal favorites on this table - paisley, plaid and treasured pieces from family. Just lovely. Thanks for sharing!
Gorgeous! I've seen them both -- they're so rich and elegant. Beautiful.
This has to be the best table you have put together, Delores! It is gorgeous.
Very cosmopolitan!! I like the combination. It is very daring and bold. I love it when the table is not always so "safe." Fabu!
If God looked kindly on coveting, I would definitely covet those wool paisley remnants. I love the table...here and for the book club, too. The wine hocks are fantastic. They remind me of my AJKA 'Arabella,' Thank you for sharing your gorgeous design. Cherry Kay
One of the prettiest tables I have seen! Your book markts/place cards are such a clever idea.
I love the table and am so jealous of the plaid plates. May have to make a run to Taget.
I love the marriage of your favorites! It works so well again! The touch of fresh greenery is fabulous as is the centerpiece. Who knew Target had those fun plates. I used to head there first every year for Christmas plates, looks like I need to again. Glad I got to peek in before TT.
This is beautiful! Sorry I missed it at Cmas time. I tried to get the plaid plates at Cmas, but they were sold out! :(
