Butter!

It looks like we now have a cat.
I've been in denial about this fact for a while, but since we have a litter box, a bag o' cat food and numerous toys around the house, I'm forced to accept that my daughter's cat, Butter now lives here. I even bought her a little collar with bells to wear!

I'm smitten! How could a person who doesn't particularly care for cats fall in love with one?

You see, Butter isn't your ordinary cat. She is a cat who acts like a dog!
And since I'm a dog lover, her little dog-like personality has captured my heart.

I'm not the only one who is smitten! Alex is trying to figure out how he can take her back to school with him in the fall!

Even Dexter doesn't mind her! And he hates cats!

So what does she do that is different from the ordinary, aloof, independent cat?
First of all, she comes when I call her. And she is super affectionate. Almost too much so.
She has a habit of touching my face with her paw when I hold her. So cute!

She has a unique way of drinking. First, she dips her paw in the milk.

Then, she licks the milk off her paw. How cute is that?

Butter ended up here because her mom, Ashley decided to move to New Mexico, a place hostile to little kitties. So for now, she is here where she is safe. And loved!

BUTTER!

Butter is joining "Baby Kitty's" birthday par-tay at Confessions of a Plate Addict.

O.M.G. I've become one of those crazy cat ladies!

Butter is so cute! I'm so glad Butter changed your mind about cats! Each cat definitely has it's own personality. I have one super sweet cat that follows me around everywhere and won't even eat his breakfast or dinner until he's had a little love from me.

I have 4 cats and not one of them is aloof or stand-offish. They are full of personality, know their names, come when called and all but one have been with me for years. Their ages are 9, 15, 18 & 22 years. Just so you know you may have Butter for a long time. (hopefully)

When I meet people who say that they're not 'cat people', I tell them that they just haven't met the right cat yet. It looks like the right cat has made its way into your family.

I also believe that we do not choose our pets ... they choose us. All we have to do is to listen to that little voice inside us that tells us what to do. You knew that Butter chose you, it just took you a little while to admit it out loud.

Congratulations on becoming a cat person. We all know that cat people are the most interesting people, after all. :)

How sweet. Yes, they will steal your heart. I have always had cats since I was very young until now. I used to have one that looks just like Butter. What a cute name, too. We want call you the cat lady until you have at least ten or so. My cat Rusty that I had drank water a lot of time with his paw and would shake it off and then walk through the house with a wet paw. Used to drive me nuts.

Delores, I can see why Butter has stolen your heart. She looks like a sweet one! Actually she reminds me of my kitty that I had as a child. I loved that cat! No pets here anymore. Glad Butter could join Baby Kitty's party. Stop by HFTS, our "French kitties" are partying. It's been fun! ~ sarah

And isn't that the right way to fall in love: with the individual, not a concept!

Butter is clearly an intelligent cat of character and great heart.

Oh,after reading this post, I just found the answer to my question... New Mexico. Yes, coyotes are not friend of cats. Butter is adorable, my favorite picture is the one of her peaking around the post. Well, that one and the one of her eating out of the butter crock, too cute! :-)

Hi Delores,
welcome in the club of the crazy cat lovers! I know exactly what you are talking about. I need just one look on this supercute cat face called butter and I am sure, your whole family gets crazy about her. Dexter has given up because he has no chance to change it again. SHE is absolutely lovely and cute. And I can see, SHE knows that, too. You will have much fun for hopefully 14 years! Enjoy! You wont believe sometimes, how you could ever live without such a furry friend.
Best greetings, Johanna

I'm not a cat person...but oh, she is SO cute! Love the paw in the glass: very original Butter!
It's just all about loving them, isn't it?

I love cats and I love this post! Butter is certainly a sweetie, how could you not be smitten with her? Look forward to hearing more about her adventures. I have 2 cats that are runing my household right now. The cat I had before her lived to be almost 19 so be prepared for the long haul. In comparison, cats are so much easier and so much less maintenance than dogs.

Wonderful!
We've had two cats that thought they were dogs, that type of cat is the most affectionate type and doesn't mind letting you know they love you. What a great addition Butter is to your home & family, Delores.

Your Butter and my Audrey sound quite similar. That paw on the face thing gets me every time. Lucky you and lucky Butter, she is a sweet kittie.

We taught our cat to play fetch with a wad of paper. I'd flick it on the wood floor so it would go flying-I think the speed was what she loved.

Our cat-dog would also take the doll shoes off the display dolls in my daughter's room and drop them in her water dish.

Butter is darling!

What a pretty cat...I am a cat lover. By the way, you don't own a cat ~ they own you! Enjoy.

She is so pretty, I love her coloring. And she has sweet eyes...gentle. I've had my cat Doo-dad for 16 1/2 years and he is smarter than any dog. He pretty much runs the show here. And he's a good watchcat. Always lets me know when someone is coming down the driveway. Enjoy her..she'll be your baby.

oh my goodness! She is BEAUTIFUL!!! What a happy bunch you are! So glad your daughter brought her home to you. And not to be a party pooper, but milk IS NOT good for cats: too rich. No need to ever give milk to your cat. I think that idea is rooted in either a nursery rhyme or a bedtime story...cats and a saucer of milk. NIX! Just sayin'...! Happy for you and for her, nevertheless.

Our son and daughter wanted to have a cat...we actually ended up with 3 in our dog lover family. The kids went away to college & we ended up with the three cats who lived to age 20...each! Never wanted a cat...wouldn't buy one for myself today...but oh I did love those cats...they are such amazing creatures. Thank you for introducing us to Butter. Cherry Kay

Delores,
Welcome to the crazy women cat club! Butter is precious! They say a cat picks the person...not the person the cat. I'd say Butter made a wonderful choice!

Butter is so cute! My cat does the same things, touch my face with his paw, drink out of my coffee cup with his paw, if you reciprocate you can teach these types of cats even more adorable stuff.

That is one handsome cat--just the coloring/striping I love. Makes us miss our "Beanie." He bonded to our next door neighbor's dog and always acted more like a dog than a cat.
