I'm obsessed with this glass front Sub-Zero.
In fact, I can't get enough of this refrigerator!

Any glass front refrigerator just makes my heart skip a beat!
It has been on my wish list for quite a while now. I've posted about my obsession before, but since finding new photos of kitchens with these refrigerators, I'm even more obsessed!

House Beautiful
One of my favorite kitchens is Joan Ross's kitchen from For The Love of a House.
She has the 36 inch Sub Zero in her newly remodeled kitchen. It's even staged beautifully inside!

Some people might not want the contents of their refrigerator on display. But I figure, if you can have glass front cabinets, then why not a glass front refrigerator?
Think of it as another opportunity to to create a beautiful vignette!
Vintage containers like this Jadite storage jar would look awesome inside, storing leftovers.
How fun would it be to display your milk in a jar like this?
Eggs would be stored in a porcelain container or a basket.
Even a vintage butter slab inside the glass door with an arrangement of veggies.
Kathysue from Good Life of Design calls it "fridge-scaping!"
But I digress!

What do you think? Could you do it, if money were no object?
DecorPad
Would you be brave enough to show the contents of your refrigerator for the whole world to see?
Then there is the cost. These refrigerators are outrageously expensive!
It is hard to justify the cost, but if you compare it to buying a car, it doesn't seem like a big deal.
Cars last only so long and need constant maintenance and expensive gas.
But actually, we could live without a car. But not a refrigerator!
A Sub-Zero Pro 48 refrigerator would last twice as long as a car and would only require some maintenance.
Maybe I should sell my car and buy a glass front refrigerator!
Yep, that sounds like a plan! Wouldn't it look great in my kitchen?

Delores, I think glass front refrigerators look gorgeous, but give me any one of those wonderful kitchens with or without a glass front refrigerator. I'm envious of everyone of these kitchens. Hope you get yours someday. ;-)

They are gorgeous but notice that the foods are not covered so they don't have that leftover chicken look about them. In real life we would have tin foil and plastic wrap covering them.
I would like one with a false panel in the front with a picture of the perfect foods but in reality when the fridge was opened my stuff would be in behind that.
oh, gosh, if money were no problem, I would do a glass front IN A HEARTBEAT!!!!
No thank you. I have no desire to see what's in my fridge or cabinets unless I'm LOOKING. I like the fake door with a picture idea much better.
When we did our kitchen remodel about two years ago I too was obsessed with a glass front sub-zero. Unfortunately, DH talked me out of it and I settled for the extra large sub-zero. I still covet those kitchens that have the glass fronts but I must say, I am happy with what I did decide upon. I dearly love Joan's kitchen as well.
Your post made me long for the glass front sub-zero once again???

They ARE great! And if money were no option, I'd absolutely love to have one. Of course, I'd have to hire someone to come in everyday and organize it for me. Ugghh... Just the thought of it... Oh well, it's a mute point... I can't even afford to THINK about it. It would look GORGEOUS in YOUR kitchen though :)
Have a great week!
Karen
hi Delores!
I am so honored to be listed with these wonderful photos, thank you! I must say, even my heart skipped a beat seeing the second photo- two side by side, what a dream!! And I don't think I have ever seen one with the panels- *love*!
I do love mine and would buy it again in a heartbeat. I know people get concerned about "seeing" everything inside, but the glass has a slight green tint so that you really don't see everything like you do looking in a glass-front cabinet. Funny... after the Renovation Style photoshoot I realized I didn't even 'think' to re-style the frig! I like how the randomness/casualness really softens the feel of the kitchen.
On another note, you will notice that my handles are different from the ones that are usually seen on my model of SubZ- mine are a litle shorter and flattened and they match the oven door handle on the Wolf range. They are the handles for the model in the first photo. I felt the round ones were a little too comtemporary for this kitchen!
You should defintely get one.... or two;)
joan
Love them, and am loving that your page is white!! The black always bothered my old eyes!
Sorry, wouldn't work for me. My fridge is a little messy and I don't want to have to work that hard to keep it looking good. I don't think aluminum foil and plastic containers are really something that would help the look of my kitchen decor. I couldn't do open kitchen cabinetry or shelving either. I want my mess behind closed doors hidden from view - out of sight, out of mind. I have to admit these pictures do inspire me to do better! Beautiful post, beautiful kitchens!
Stop, Delores, Stop!!!! We'd never get you out of the kitchen since you'd be busy staging your fridge! There's a great big world out there that needs your attention! xoxox Jenny
Delores, These kitchens are beyond gorgeous with or without a glass front refrigerator. I would prefer to have a custom front to match my cabinets (as soon as this frig goes, that is what I am getting) but I must admit the glass version do look upscale. I cook too much to keep my frig as neat as a pin... I would not want all the contents in my frig out in plain sight!
Beautiful dreams, though.
Yvonne
Ooohing and aaaahing over this refrigerator. If I had one then I would have to re-do the entire kitchen to look good around the fridge! But I can dream I suppose... :-))
Delores: step. away. from. the. fridge...
I think we are staging an intervention here - at the very least, if you have an open fridge like this, have a second one tucked away for the remains of take-out and stock bones!
Yes, they ARE beautiful!!! However I have a hard enough time just keeping my frige clean let alone staged!! Of course if money were not object I'd have a housekeeper to keep that beautiful frige clean now wouldn't I?!?!? LOL
~Des
OOh... I would do that in a heartbeat! So much easier to stand on the outside looking than with the door open! thanks for sharing the lovely inspiration with us. Many blessings, marlis
It might be nice in a magazine layout...but one look inside my refridgerator and you would see why this would be impossible for me! I do have glass-fronted cabinets but they only hold china and glassware ~ no food!
If money were no object then I could have my cleaning person be in charge of keeping the refridgerator nice and neat!!!!!! Yes, that's the plan. Now all I need is the $$$$ and the cleaning lady:):):) XO, Pinky PS, these pics are gorgeous and I am totally jealous:):)
Drrrroooooooooooooooooooooling!!!!!
:)
ButterYum
They are nice in someone else's house...not mine!
Can you get a glass door for your current sub-zero?
All of these kitchens are heart stopping!

I too am in love with this fridge but it cost about 15k, I hate this economy, because it means,I no plan in place to be able to afford one of these beauties in the near furture, but miracles happen ever day!!!!!!
I absolutely would not want one as keeping my fridge organized is my weak area....I sure wouldn't want it there for the world to see...I think they make a kitchen look like a 7-11.....just my opinion. There are so many more places in my kitchen I would rather spend that money.
Yes you neeeeed a glass front fridge so you can do some fun fridge-scaping. I agree they are gorgeous!!! Kathysue
I think a glass front refridgerator would look wonderful in your kitchen! However, I don't think you should sell your car! Seriously, they certainly are beautiful but I don't think it would work for me. I would have to join some of the other ladies and hire someone to keep it looking in order. But they certainly are gorgeous and I love each and every image you showed...and...one really would look spectacular in your kitchen!!!
I love the look of these too! You would have to be very fastidious about it, but I have had my eye on the first one you showed! Yes I would have one or two if money were no object! Gees... if nothing else it would stop people from opening the fridge for 5 minutes deciding what they want!
No glass front frig for me! I understand my reality and that of others (family) in/out of our frig. Our glass front cabinets (some but not all) provide the perfect balance. Cheers to you though, Delores.
Beautiful kitchens!!! I want a refrigerator like this one too!!! :-)
Kisses

In reading over all the comments it seems very few people would actually WANT one in their own house! It's one of those things that wonderful to look at, and dream about, but in reality....guess not!
I know it certainly would not do in my house: yes, too much foil and saran wrap in there!
BTW: I do like the new white background: very clean and easy to read!
I right there with you, sistah! When I "retired" in 1995, one of the ways I sponsored by early leave from work was to give up my car. We are in the process of finalizing our kitchen do over and my nonnegotiable in the sub zero 48" pro. I used the same argument with my husband: it's like I have a used car with an extension cord that keeps veggies fresh. It's also an energy star appliance, but I prefer to call it 800 pounds of stainless steel art. I am giving up cabinetry to get this baby. Can't wait.
I love the IDEA of it but worry it would drive me nuts unless everything was perfectly displayed. I love this post and the images, thank you.
Karen
Delores: I am new to your blog and really love the first few posts I've seen! I am in the process of planning out our new kitchen and I have to say there is one in particular in this posting that is EXACTLY what I want!!! Can you provide me with the source of photo number 7? It has the grayish cabinets, no island, dark wood floors, marble countertops....It is my dream kitchen! I also love number 3 and it is bookmarked in my TH magazine as another option to show my contractor and designer. I hope you can tell me where photo No. 7 is from so I can find more pictures of the room. Thank you in advance!
I have to disagree with you on this one, don't like glass-fronted refrigerators! Of course they look beautiful in these pictures but in real life most people's refrigerators are not "styled" and why should they be? That's just a crazy extra chore to take on. And you really would have to have an immaculate, beautifully organized and arragned refrigerator all the time in order to keep it on display. I think that is just impractical for most people.
P.S. I intended to comment on the glass front refrigerators and forgot in my madness to know more about photo #7.....I love them but only in a perfect world. I don't think I could ever have my food looking so perfectly all of the time, and that is one thing in my life I don't want to have to worry over. We entertain a lot, and it would be nearly impossible for us. I'm a perfectionist and it would absolutely drive me crazy! But, I agree, they are beautiful!
Delores I wish there were a refrigerator fairy!! I agree with you! There is none better then a glass faced door of a refrigerator !!!
And I would sell my car for one, I think :p
My daughter was about 11 when she fell in love with them I would order them for a model home I am designing and then that would be the one I wanted until I do another than a new model would come out and change my mind!
I would have no fear showing off my eats and drinks in a glass door refrigerator !! with my Hannah's and my O.C.D it would always be clean and perfectly staged on top of it all there is never junk in our frig we eat healthy ! the French sparking lemonade from France would show off great!
I am with you on those milk bottles for storage :)
That over sized galley style gray kitchen I think is one of my fav's
I am subject to change though!
get one girl it will be a great piece added to your home of beauty!... Its on my list for the new year and our new home search, it will look great on stone, limestone floors :)
See you soon.
xoxo
Dore
Thanks for this post........ i agree with your views for refrigerators.
http://apcoappliancerepair.blogspot.com/
I wish I could remember the source for #7 photo for you "Angeldog." It seems that about 75% are a big no an 25% are a yes on a glass door refrigerator.
Oh, I've been coveting them for a while. I have a beautiful stainless steel, large french door fridge and you'd think that'd be enough...but...noooooo.....I want a much larger refrigerator....and one with a glass front door would be amazing.
Hugs,
L
PS How awesome that ya'll all got to celebrate with Fifi at her book-signing!!! FUN!!!!
There were so many things that caught my eye. I really liked the three dog dishes built into the end of the island.
I so wish I could have white cabinets. Maybe when my husband is away for a few days...
xoxo Bunny Jean
I loved your post, beautiful kitchens! I have a subzero glass front frig and just love it! I wanted one for a while and we are renovating so it will get moved but they are pretty special and I have the glass milk bottle you showed too!
How funny! We like the same things!
Please stop by for a visit.
