I'll be honest, I've always loved shopping at Cost Plus.
From back in the day when I decorated my first apartment, to the present when I'm shopping for young clients with a budget, Cost Plus has always been one of my favorite stores.
Cost Plus was first established in 1958, right here in San Francisco by a businessman who sold wicker from his travels abroad. Maybe that's why I used to associate Cost Plus with wicker!
They've come a long way since!
Take for instance their "Erin Cute As A Button" headboard. The queen bed sells for $399.99 which is quite a bargain. And it's cute as a button too!
Or the Isa bed, which reminds me of a much more expensive bed from Restoration Hardware.
The Julian bed reminds me of a much more expensive version too.
Isn't there something like this in the Sundance catalog?
When I visited Cost Plus last week, I walked in the front door and was taken with this linen chaise.
Called the Ainsley Chaise, it's part of their "Kingdom Animalia" collection.
Notice the detail of the tufting, which is reminiscent of a French mattress.
It's on sale right now for $399.99 and is upholstered in burlap.
Simply adorable!
The chaise was displayed under this tent which was intriguing me.
I couldn't find a price tag and no one seemed to know how much it cost.
Turns out, it's not for sale. Just part of the display. Really?
That just made me want it even more! How cool would it be to have this tent in the backyard?
After much begging, I had to give it up and move on, only to discover these fabulous pillows--and they were for sale, thank goodness.
The quality of the linen fabric is much more than you would expect for less than $20 each.
The one item I regret not buying is a basket from this collection.
I'm heading back this week.
Hopefully they aren't sold out!

Hey I am all for finding good things at a good price when you can. It makes those other more expensive items easier to swallow.
Nice, relaxed styles. I do have to say that a light colored fabric headboard will not look good for very long once the hair oils start building up on it.
Love the headboards and the chaise!
Love all of your finds at Cost Plus. I am like you in that I love to shop there. Hubby and I use to go there and get a sample coffee and just peruse up and down the aisles to see what we could find. We loved the food aisles, always found something interesting there. xo Kathysue
I have a couple of World Markets close to me, but haven't been in either in quite a while -- shame on me! I didn't realize they were carrying so much more furniture now. I'll have to go check it out. Love that tufted headboard.

I just put up a tufted head board and love it. The one at the top is really nice! We have a WM near by and I always forget to pop in!
Thanks for sharing.

Back in 1964, when we were first married we carried a wicker headboard, peacock chair and mirror frame on the cable car from the old Cost Plus barn down at the wharf up to where we had parked our car. We lived 40 mi. north of SF and would come into town to shop. I bought my first set of dishes and so many other things from dear old Cost Plus.
Perfect timing. I just got some Cost Plus gift cards for my birthday so I could get my wicker chairs (or a new rug) But I love that chaise you showed us. Hmmm

Great finds!!=)
Love your blog!
Do you know if you can still order the KooBoo chairs from World Market? Our closet store is 1 1/2 hours away - so I haven't had time to check yet.
Many thanks,
Angee
Thanks for the tour, Delores! I love World Market....there is one 5 minutes from our home. The linen pillows are a steal for $20 each....I couldn't make one for that price. Cool tent....would love to have that prop in my shop.
Cheers from DC,
Loi
I'm casting my vote for the Julian!
So many great things.........wish we had one close to us, it would be a daily stop.
Fun!
I saw that same display in one of the World Market stores here in the Kansas City area last week and was equally blown away by the whole thing...especially that chaise! How DARE they put something out there to tempt us only to cruelly snatch it away from our grasp!!! I don't remember seeing that cool button headboard. That's really cute! We need a new headboard, so I'm going to start keeping my eyes open there given the reasonable pricing. To catch something on sale would be even better!!!
The burlap chaise is pretty. I also like the magazine baskets.
This makes me really what to make a point of dropping in there...great finds!
hi Delores! This post kills me... I used to LOVE World Market, but sadly we don't have them in the NE :( I will sometimes check their website to see if any our coming our way- how sad is that?!! They have great merchandise and just great ideas. And, I swear they copied my barnwood master headboard to a t ;) I just rememebered I need to write you and talk about Eastmoreland;)- that is too, too fun!

I have TWO World Market stores (they're not called Cost Plus World Mkt here anymore) in my area! I saw that cute-as-a-button headboard just the other day myself and was admiring it. ;-)
I so agree with you Delores...I love Cost Plus and have loved it ever since I first stepped into their store in San Francisco. Yep...a long time ago.
Love your new finds too, need to take a peek this weekend.

Hi, love your family affair post. Came to check in and look for some dining room / office drape inspiration. Just moved from Chicago to TN and have a new home to decorate, woo-hoo. Funny, you show a Cost Plus link and beautiful inspiration and a link back to your daughter's redo...which since a year ago when I saw them...have been coveting those simple economical drapes! Thanks for all the lovely inspiration. The grasscloth texture is fab and inspires me to bring some texture to my dining room with the large seagrass rug still in the garage!
So great! I love that tent, too!
Terrific stuff there!
