Every time I see a casual table with rattan chairs, I die.
This table at the Ralph Lauren Home Store in Palo Alto is an example.
I love the organic feel that these chairs lend to the dining table.
They remind me of the rattan chairs in Whitney Fairchild's Hampton's home as seen in the 2004 Home and Garden magazine.
Two years ago, I traded my French style chairs for Kubu Wicker from World Market for our casual dining area. I loved how they gave the whole area a totally different, casual feel.
What I don't like is how far they stick out in the room because of the arms.
You can't tuck them under the table at all.
So when I discovered the Jayden Rattan chairs, also from World Market, I thought how nice that they tuck in.
Plus, they recently went on sale. $159.98 for a pair!
Which beats the price of the Delaney Rattan chairs at Pottery Barn, also on sale for $179.00, but for just one.
With a place for my Kubu Wicker in mind, I went ahead and ordered the Jayden Chairs, and I couldn't be happier!
What's nice is the cushions I made for the Kubu wicker chairs also fit these chairs.
I actually like the green ticking fabric with the darker rattan better.
It looks richer, don't you think?
You really can't beat the price for these chairs.
They are well made and super comfortable.
I have a feeling they aren't going to last long though.
Knowing World Market, they are probably phasing them out.
I'm so glad I bought them in time!
The only thing I hadn't considered though is the wicker shades on the buffet lamps, although they are easily changed out.
Is there such a thing as too much wicker/rattan?

I like the new chair style. You think the chairs with the arms are comfort, but I hadn't thought about the arms being too much at the table {good tip}.
You can always tone down the wicker lampshades with watered paint. I did that on a wicker chair - just added water to the latex paint I used on my walls and lighted brushed it over the wicker. You can add more or buff off with a light sand paper if it's too much.
The vista looking through your family room, kitchen island down to the table area is great.
I like the new chairs and no, I don't think there's too much rattan/wicker in the room! Hahaha
You have such an amazing style and I enjoy your posts because yours is much like my decorating style and I can always find an answer to a decorating dilemma from you.
Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us.
Love the new chairs Delores! Beautiful shots of your room!
Those are nice! I think the wicker shades look fine with the chairs.
I really like the darker wicker of the new chairs, and they look wonderful around your table. Great view from the familyroom and kitchen. Hugs, Marty
Beautiful sunfilled space no matter what chairs you use!
I couldn't agree more...something about that casual comfortable texture and feel...love it!
Delores,
I love the new chairs. You're right, I barely made it to 6 of World Market's Kubu chairs a couple of years ago...I wish they would keep their great sellers longer.
Have a great weekend.
Karen
After you pinned these I went to World Market to check them out and loved them in person too. Great price for the quality and I love the style. I love how they look with your table.
Well if it's too much wicker, then I am GUILTY because I just thought "I need wicker shades to go with my kitchen chairs!!!" LOL
Hi D! Love the new chairs, what a fun detail they have on the back, like a handle so they can be pulled out easily, love that. Also I agree the ticking really comes alive with the bit darker shade of this wicker.
Not sure you can have too much wicker, it all works beautifully in your warm and inviting home,Happy Weekend!!

PS My sofa comes home today!! Eeeeeee!
Gorgeous...love them! Such a wonderful room!
Blessings,

No, not too much wicker. I like the transition from space to space. Love the style of these chairs and makes me wish we had a space to use them. Love the detail on the back of the chairs. You can hang a napkin down over the rod or a grain sack panel. Another monogram opportunity. '-)
Love your style, Delores! ~ Sarah
It looks like it's right out of a magazine!
No ! There is never enough wicker or rattan !! Besides, you do have a lovely blend of wicker, textiles, soft and hard furniture.....I think it looks like House Beautiful !!
Now look what you made me do! I was reading this post over coffee this morning, showed it to Ray, and so we took ourselves off to WM. We bought four for our new screened porch! They are very comfortable, and I do think I will cover that cushion which came with, plus add a kidney pillow. Thanks for the info! Yours look wonderful in your casual dining area.
These chairs looks great! the old ones were nice, but these new ones are really nic! I can so picture the RL table at your home is Asti.
Hi Delores, I too LOVE Rattan chairs...I used to have the KUBU chairs frommPier 1 in my kitchen (not the ones with the arms though), I loved how they looked but after 2-3 month they looked horrible. Big chunks came out ...I had to return them and Pier 1 was great at doing an exchange. I now have brown leather chairs which are s much more durable....ANyways how dod yours hold up????
Delores, your chairs are wonderful; and look so perfect with your table! The whole feel of this room is just so relaxed and inviting. They're beautiful!
Love these chairs...I really prefer them over the others...there you go with that great eye of yours...always fine tuning...have to admit you have tempted me to run out tomorrow to see if I can grab some too!

Nice!
I too love the look of wicker around a table. As our lifestyle gets casualer and casualer I keep thinking I might like to put them in my dining room...those Cost Plus chairs look great!
Gorgeous! The new chairs are an awesome evolution. I ordered one wicker chair for the desk in my kitchen from Atlanta- it was a fortune! But I love it. I would have loved the World Market price better!
Delores - Love your new wicker chairs!! They look fabulous and, more importantly, comfy!! Will dash over to World Market to check out. Thanks for sharing and sourcing :)
