Putting On The Ritz

Just over the hill, only twenty miles away, sits the most amazing resort, The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay.
Perched atop a cliff, overlooking the ocean, it is a little slice of heaven!

Mr. A and I decided to finally see what everyone's been talking about.

If you love the ocean, then this is definitely worth a stay.
Or you could just enjoy the fire pit at the end of the day, while watching the sunset over the Pacific.

Just as the sun sets, a bagpiper plays Amazing Grace.

And yes, he's dressed in a kilt!

We had to pinch ourselves as we listened to the sweet sounds of the bagpipes and watch the sun hit the water.

 Mr. A enjoying the view...

A happy, albeit cold camper!
Even though the hotel gives out blankets and there is a roaring fire, it can be cold and windy.

The hotel even has S'mores kits for roasting marshmallows.

 We had a martini instead!

I love how the rooms were decorated, especially the bathroom.

French doors open to lovely Carrara marble floors.

One whole wall in the room is all beautiful built-ins.

Of course, the bed is luxurious with down duvet and soft as silk sheets.
I noticed all the details....

...like the dog bed, scarf and bowl provided for Oscar.
How cool that the The Ritz-Carlton is pet friendly!

The hotel was built in 2000 and renovated in 2010.
It's hard to believe that this is the first time we've ever seen it.
I think we might make this a yearly occasion!

Love it! I want to be there now and I love how dog friendly they are (even though Benji ran like a madman around the golf course).

How gorgeous. We have stayed in a couple RC in the past and they are so nice and the best service. Those were in the days that the company paid for our stay.

What a beautiful spot! I am as impressed with their dog friendly details as I am with the view. And those individual firepits - luxury plus!

You can never go wrong with a Ritz Carlton.....but when they welcome dogs, it's the best!!! How amazing was that? The fire looks like fun, but honestly, the Martini makes it the perfect stop!

Delores -
I'm so jealous that you are so close. After staying here, my husband amended his bucket list to a very simple, "I want to stay in every Ritz-Carlton in the world"!!!!! Our room was upgraded beyond our wildest dreams and we woke up every morning to that incredible view of the ocean over the golf course. We then proceeded to your beautiful St. Helena for one of the most special parties I could imagine. A dream trip for us, too!

I host a weekly party on Fridays called "Oh, the PLACES I've been!". It would be great to have you link.

Oh my. Sunsets with a bagpiper! HMB was on our list when we were out visiting Kathysue, but it was the day after we all arrived and after traveling we needed a down day. Next time. Trying to convince my hubby to make the trip out next Fall so maybe I will add this to our agenda. Thanks for sharing your trip with us. xxoo

There are two Ritz Carltons within driving distance of my home and they are both lovely, sited as they are on the Gulf of Mexico. Nothing, however, compares to an ocean view. The one you were fortunate enough to stay in is nothing short of spectacular.

Oh my gosh, that picture of the sunset could be in a travel magazine.
I love the marble bathroom as well.
Looks like a cozy romantic get-a-way.

When this resort opened it became Number 1 on my wish list, altho I haven't made it there yet I have been to others on my list. You've done a beautiful job photographing it. I hear it has a fantastic spa.

Well it sits on a stunning site for sure!! The resort is beautiful and the waves would be a delight. I think the fire bit would feel wonderful all bundled up in a blanket.

These are gorgeous pictures!! The view really is lovely, and everything about the hotel looks perfect. How nice, indeed, that they provide a dog bed and other amenities for our pooches. :)

I enjoyed your post -- visiting from The Tablescaper's party. Have a wonderful weekend!
