Backyard Reveal

The backyard project finally came together a month ago with the arrival of the outdoor furniture and rug.

The wicker sofa and chairs are a little more traditional than a lot of the wicker furniture available.
More of a Nantucket style.

In fact, I could even use the furniture inside.
Especially the chairs as they're wingbacks.

The tent arrived a week later.
Needless to say, it was not easy to put together, even though the directions said assembly would take a mere 30 minutes.
Right.  More like two hours!
Even Mr. A got involved!

Here it is all set up and ready for some serious summer relaxation.

Even though this area was fine without the tent, I love how the tent creates a room.

Sitting out here in the evening is magical!
I can see why the previous owners built this elevated area.

It's been fun shopping for accessories like pillows...

...throws, plants and lanterns.

It's a private retreat to enjoy our morning coffee or a glass of wine when the sun is setting.

I went to the site for the tent but couldn't find it and don't see a "search" button. Do you have a link? The whole area looks gorgeous!!! I have been wanting a tent or SOMETHING for our patio.

Hi Pinky,
The tent is available at Amazon, as well as other online stores. I googled Safavieh tent and a lot of sites came up selling this tent. Good luck! ~Delores

Your outdoor room is just beautiful, and you will really enjoy it! I am particularly smitten with your wing chairs, as well as that blue and white rug. Where we live it would unfortunately be so filthy in no time at all that it would have to be discarded. I hope you have really good luck keeping it pretty. We get so much rain down here in Alabama that leaves and garden debris get blown and washed around everywhere! We do have a pergola with iron furniture that can be hosed off, but we spend most of our time in the screened in back porch. This gets dirty, too, but at least not to the degree it does without the screens. Your whole new house looks so lovely!

Your new "outdoor room" is absolutely gorgeous! You have such a talent for creating beautiful vignettes, inside & out. So fitting for your blog name! I have loved following your blog while you were living in your lovely home in San Mateo, then in San Francisco & now in your charming cottage. I always enjoy your posts & look forward to new ones since our design aesthetic is very similar.

Hi Delores!
Your backyard oasis is just perfect! I love having a place outdoors where I can go to eat, read, relax or entertain. Our covered deck area off of the kitchen and living room fit the bill, but there’s something special about walking right outside to the grass and ground, and then having a “destination” in your own backyard! I love what you’ve done inside and out, what a lovely home you’ve created!
