Show And Tell: Taxidermy Finds

Thrifting doesn't have to be just perusing thrift stores and garage sales.
Sometimes you can find great deals online at places like OKL or Joss and Main.
Lately, I've found some great bargains.
There is a theme here...!

Call it taxidermy?

Whatever. I found these, and yes, they are faux, online.
The set of three for a fraction of what one vintage real one would cost.

They are living in the Welsh Cupboard for now, which I'm decorating for the fall and winter months.

I wish I could take credit for this one.
My friend Jane found this vintage rack for me at a garage sale around the corner.
$10.
Call her my personal shopper, she is always on the lookout for what I'm on the lookout for!

 Apparently, it belonged to Paul!
Thanks Jane!  Good eye!

Ok, since we have a deer theme going on, I remembered this majolica platter I found at Tuesday Morning.

Red tagged at $15.
Perfect for Thanksgiving, or just display.

And last, but not least is this cow head from OKL.
He was technically free!
$15 minus a $15 credit, plus shipping!
Proof that I can thrift just about anywhere!

I have that same cow head from OKL and was disappointed that it is a shiny cheap looking plastic. I think I can make it look better though, I hope. Love the antlers.

I think both yours and Kim's cow heads should meat up with a can of spray paint. Everything looks better painted white........

I know--it does look cheap! However it was free and I thought the same thing Kim. Spray paint or some kind of faux should do the trick. White just might work too Katherine!

Delores, I can't believe you got the majolica platter for $15. I saw it at TM last year and passed on it...not on clearance, though. You lucky thing! Way to shop...great finds.
Have a good shopping weekend,
Babs

Delores, You have a great display there! I have the same head from OKL so I'd like to know what you do, if anything, to modify yours.

Delores, love the theme you have going. LOL I'm slowly adding more majolica to my dish stash. I've never gone that direction because of all my French faience, but I bought my first pieces last fall at an antique show in Baltimore. Now I want to add more. It's perfect for fall! Thanks for sharing all your recent finds and inspiring me with new ideas. ~ Sarah

The Welsh cupboard looks so seasonal Delores. I'll have those horns back when you're finished with them please:)

Its so funny, I could probably get all the antlers I wants from our best friends who are hunters, and I never even thought about it until now. Isn't it funny how things eventually come around in the design world. Who would have thought it. We wives have been trying to hide and out away the horns for years, and now they are ok to display. Husband's across America are so confused. LOL I love yours displayed in your Welch hutch. And that platter is just lovely!
