Yesterday, I checked lots of boxes in preparation for the gourmet dinner club tonight.
Whole Foods was my one stop shopping destination for the food we've been assigned to, as well as all the floral needs.
The first box to check: The Centerpiece!
This is a real tablescape, so the centerpiece had to be low, and I kept it simple with a planter of herbs.
The herbs don't compete with the purple theme and they can be used later for Thanksgiving when seasoning the turkey and dressing!
With various containers sitting empty around the house, I needed to fill them with something that would last, perhaps even into December.
Whole Foods had lovely Christmas greens which are so fragrant!
In the living room, I used potted plants like this "antique" hydrangea in a faux wood pot.
I lined the pot with burlap instead of moss.
Purple orchids for the prized Victorian urn, inherited from Mr. A's mother.
Notice, the curtains? Yes, they arrived just in time!
White orchids between the chairs.
In the powder room, I filled the tartan urn with more fragrant holiday greens.
Ah, they smell heavenly!
Let the preparations begin!
This is all so beautiful! Now I have to add Whole Foods to my list of things to do today! Thanks for sharing this! Hope it's lots of fun!
Soooo beautiful Delores!!! I could move right in;)!!!
I love all your arrangements. I love a plant in every room and i think you get such a bang for the buck with orchids... they last so long and require such little care. I usually pick them up at Trader Joes but the Whole Foods is closer... (probably more expensive?)
Hi Delores! Oh your floral arrangements are so pretty and I can almost smell them! I know your guests will be so impressed! :)
Be a sweetie
Especially love your herb centerpiece and the hydrangeas in that fabulous faux bois planter. Looking lovely!
I love that you used such fragrant greenery!! Nothing like rosemary and pine to fill the air, then your delicious meal on top of that, Heavenly. Everything looks so pretty, Enjoy tonight!!! xo Kathysue
Very gracious, thoughtful and beautiful, Delores. I love your idea of using burlap lining.
Beautiful, as always! Makes me want to get in the car & drive to Whole Foods. My husband will thank you, I'm sure! ;o) Enjoy your dinner!
Gorgeous touches every where!! Love all the containers and orchids are my favorite!!
Lucky the guests who are invited to this table. I'm sure everyone will have a wonderful evening. Good food and a charming, inviting atmosphere. I was so thrilled to see more pics of your house. I never get tired of peeking into your rooms. I like to read over the whole post and then go back and STUDY each picture to make sure I haven't missed any little details.
I'm loving that faux wood planter. Gorgeous.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
Perfect touches, Delores. We are all fortunate to have Whole Foods stores available. ;-)
I would love to have a store that could fill all the shopping needs in one stop.
Beautifully done Delores. A great idea with the herbs. I have often brought bouquets of herbs from my garden for the hostess rather than flowers that they have to re-cut and and arrange. They have always been greatly appreciated.
Everything is so beautiful, especially the basket of herbs! I wish we had Whole Foods here!
wow. just wow!!! these are all so inspiring!
