For The Love Of Dogs

Do you think dogs are capable of love?
I do!

I don't doubt for one minute that dogs love their humans.
Whether or not dogs have emotions is debatable amongst psychologists and animal behaviorists.
Some refer to a dog's love for their master as an attachment, not love.
Well, that's debatable!

Emotionally speaking, I believe dogs feel joy.
The joy of going for a ride in the car.
The joy of playing catch or going for a walk.

Tell your dog he has to stay and just see how sad he becomes!
I know because I have been leaving my little Oscar home alone lately and it breaks my heart to see his ears and tail go down.

He waits patiently for my return because he has to.
 It is what dogs do.
Their qualities of loyalty, patience, devotion and dedication are qualities that we humans should strive for.

All I know is that dogs make our lives richer.

I read once that they are guardian angels of the human spirit.

For dog lovers like me, dogs become family members, living with us, sharing our homes, sitting on the sofa...

...sleeping in our beds, guarding our human spirit...

...and teaching us by example to love each other.
A dog's love is pure.
It's patient and kind.

A dog's love isn't jealous, proud or boastful;
it is not arrogant or rude.
A dog's love doesn't keep a record of wrongs.

Sound familiar?
It is 1 Corinthians 13.4
Yes, we have a lot to learn from our dogs.

Some believe that God made a dog for all the reasons above.

Do you love a dog?
Do you have a dog that loves you?
If you do, you are one lucky person.
I know I am!

I love my dogs! They love me back! They make me happy!
Our animals are dependent on us to treat them well and with respect! Dressing them up and baby talking to them is expected !? They help calm our hearts and souls.
I am lucky to have 2 lap dogs and 2 cats.....and I want more!

I am SURE dogs LOVE and have emotions! Our dog would do crazy happy when I would get home. Our daughter has 2 beagles and the younger one CRIES and WAILS when her "Daddy" goes out...or even just leaves the room!!!!! She has SERIOUS abandonment issues:) Dogs, it has been shown, bring LIFE back to senior citizens. Beautiful post, Dolores. XO, Pinky

Yes, dogs are every thing and more. We've been dogless since November. Poor guy was sick much of his life, but he was the sweetest, smartest and most intuitive collie around. Yes I'm partial! My husband isn't ready for a replacement, but I am. I miss the love and presence of a wonderful pooch. We do't let ours sleep in our beds or get up on the sofa, but they are loved, just the same!

I agree with all of your sentiments and love all of the photos. My pup is the best gift I have ever received and she is the gift that keeps on giving, love, happiness, hugs, snuggles. I am so lucky to have her.

I couldn't agree more. Dogs are essential to our lives in so many ways. Coming home to be greeted by all that tail wagging and barking and licking! love it!

I agree wholeheartedly! I have an almost 13 year old yellow lab Daisy. She was our first child, and now she is the best friend my kids will ever know.

I agree with everything you said about dogs! They give such unconditional love, are always so pleased to see us, they deserve the very best we can give them. I saw a quote that said "Become the person your dog thinks you are!" Lovely post x Sharon

Anyone who doesn't think an animal has emotions has obviously NEVER shared their life with one.
I do however disagree that dogs don't keep a record of 'wrongs' done to them. Mine slinks away from me for days after a trip to the vet, or a pill given, or a new dog registration tag put on.
My cats are also very emotional. I have seen them play jokes on each other, hate each other, and adore me. One of my cats has to be as close to me all the time, sleeping at my feet when I am on the computer, or on my lap when I am sitting. Another has to have cuddles when I am in the bathroom, esp on the loo! I guess that is the only time the other cat isn't with me! He also gets to sleep on the bed and starts gathering me up saying it's time for bed if he thinks I am staying up too late.
I have even seen deep love with my ferrets who were great friends and got agitated when seperated, then great sadness when one of the ferrets died and the other mourned for weeks.

I love this post. I used to consider myself a cat person but ever since we brought home our darling golden retriever last year, I have turned into a full blown dog person. The love they give is so unconditional and she has added so much happiness to our family. I couldn't imagine not having a dog now!

What is love other than an attachment anyways? That is exactly what love is and dogs are the masters of it.
