This little house served our daughter and her family well for many years, but alas, they outgrew it.
After a few failed attempts to buy another home and even consider adding on, they made the decision to move to Seattle.
With my son-in-law's business already in Seattle, it made perfect sense.
Once that decision was made, there was no stopping them!
My daughter rented an apartment and moved her family so that the house could be staged.
Here's their staged living room. It looks much larger and neutral, which is what buyers want to see.
Here's their living room after I did a makeover several years ago with World Market furniture.
You can read about it here.
The kitchen was remodeled several years ago too, combining three tiny rooms in to one.
There is no dining room, so opening up the space created an eat in kitchen.
The staged master bedroom looking much larger than it actually is.
This house has two bedrooms and one bath.
At 930 square feet, it packs a lot of punch, but not enough for our daughter's family, plus a new puppy and a cat!
The back of the house.
I re-landscaped both the front and back of the house about 5 years ago.
The cobblestone path was my solution to connect the house with the garage.
Above the garage is a loft that was used as their office. It also has a bedroom and bath so it could be used as an in-law unit.
Last year, I spruced up the backyard again with new outdoor furniture here. However, they have since inherited my teak table and chairs from our move, which will now find its way to their new home!
I think their backyard is my favorite part of this house. I'll always remember sitting on the steps and watching the granddaughters play.
And so it's time to say good-bye to this house and look ahead to a bright future in Seattle.
I'm in denial about them leaving and I know it's going to hit me hard when they drive away next Saturday, but I'm also very excited for them and can't wait to visit as often as I can.
Stay tuned for details about their new Seattle home.
Bitter sweet for sure. I am sure you will be helping her with more new design choices. Your brain is being kept busy with all of the design choices going on in your family. YOU are so good at your job, you will do beautifully. Looking forward to more updates,
Wow, you packed a lot of punch in such a small space. Cute, cute, cute! It should sell fast and I can't wait to see what you do with her new home! Still, I'm sure you are sad to see them go... bittersweet.
What an adorable cottage. I would have loved something like this when I was single.
There cottage is adorable, and the backyard space is wonderful. I could spend lots of time enjoying CA's lovely evenings. All the best to your daughter and her family as they set off on a new adventure.
You did an amazing job. I can see your imprint everywhere! It's a very nice home and I love how you have made the outside just so appealing.
I agree with everyone! The backyard simply makes the house, I think. You did a marvellous job with the landscaping and the decking at the backdoor, which has completely covered over itself with greenery hasn't it? This way they will get top price. Onward to Seattle...which is one of my favorite places in the USA.
Delores, you will just have to work your magic in Seattle and at least you are on the same time zone. Still, I know it is painful. It's a beautiful home and I am sure it will sell quickly.
I will call you soon!
The entire house is so nice, and I do love the backyard. You're a great Mom to have around! : - )
What a wonderful small home. Everything about it is perfect, and I would buy it in a minute, if I was looking in the area. Bet it doesn't last long. LOVE it, and wish your daughter and family all the best moving into their new home.
I live in Seattle. It's going to be a bit of an adjustment for your daughter's family with our weather here. It's absolutely lovely in the spring and summer, but the rest of the year it's pretty gloomy. If you can embrace the gloom and enjoy coffee culture...it's gonna be just fine *winks*
I'm really looking forward to seeing their new home. The one they're leaving behind is absolutely darling! I know you will have lots of fun helping to decorate their newest abode. Vanna
Welcome to Seattle. It's a great place to live, and lately, we've had California-style weather.
Debbie from Bothell (a Seattle suburb)
What a darling house! It looks very much like my son and daughter in law's house. I hope they like the weather there!!
