Buy It!

Reese has a new word: "BUY IT!"

It was a beautiful sunny day in Alameda last Sunday--perfect flea marketing weather!
We headed across the SF Bay to the monthly Alameda Antique Fair with #1 daughter, son-in-law, and grandkids in tow, as well as her mother-in-law visiting from Colorado. It was a very fun day.

What my daughter Melissa soon found out is that you don't have your 19 month old child "try something out," if you aren't prepared to "BUY IT." Reese had a melt down when she realized she couldn't take the tricycle home. Needless to say, her mommy had to "BUY IT."

The only thing I was looking for was a pair of crusty, chippy fanback chairs for the reading room balcony. This one was too fragile and there was only one. Darn.

This was the busiest show yet. There were so many great booths too.

Big Daddy's Antiques is my favorite dealer here. He never disappoints. Just back the truck up, because you want to take everything home! I was coveting these columns!

And these wicker barstools.

Oh, be still my heart! A wine stave chandelier for candles! My heart was pounding as I knew this was a one of a kind fixture. Most of them are electric and this one would be perfect in our dining room at the Asti house. People were circling. I knew we might have to fight for it!

After much negotiations with Shane, Big Daddy himself, a deal was made and we decided to "BUY IT"

SOLD!

And so the chandelier obsession continues......
(I think I need an intervention!)

It's Outdoor Wednesday over at A Southern Daydreamer. That's where you will find me and others with our outdoor posts.

The chandelier is spectacular. I have loved the wine barrel chandelier since my first glimpse of one in a local restaurant. Can't wait to see where you hang it.

What a fantastic find! I just love that chandelier! So cute about your granddaughter. When Cait was little, she asked for something at the store and I told her that I didn't have the money for it. Hands on hips, she very seriously told me to write a check :). I hope you do a post on your visit to Cloverdale, it sounds really interesting. Kathy

Hi Delores,
That chandelier would look perfect over my fabulous forklift find...you just have to bring a forklift or 10 really strong men. Hope to see you this weekend...

Love the candlelier! Yes - children learn very early what "buy it" means. :)
Hope you are having a great week.

Sorry Delores, I had to fix that comment, so many jumbled words. I need to slow down and proof before posting. My laptop keyboard is going wacko, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! ha!

Nothing wrong with having a chandy collection. The one you got is so fabulous! He sure does have some wonderful things! In the photo you showed of the wicker bar stool, I spied an amazing clawfooted table behind it! The urn is killer!

I can't believe I missed the fair again! Why I kept thinking it was going to be this coming Sunday, I've no clue. Musta had a brain fart! ha!

Cheers!
Tina

Delores I am very close to you . Would love to meet for coffee. We need to figure out a way to contact eachother. For some reason I cannot use outlook express or I would email you, my program won't let me. If you can think of a more private way to touch base let me know,Kathysue

This is amazing. I don't know how high you plan to hang it and maybe you are a purist and have an aversion to faux candles but i recently discovered that they make battery candles with a remote. Now that is something I could use maybe you too.
Nice post. You look way too young to be a G ma. :)

Just lovely and so rustic. I'm sure you will have the perfect spot for it. I really need to go out to the Alameda, I live maybe two hours at the most from there. I think maybe a trip is in order.
Loved your post and your grand-daughter is adorable and I would have wanted the pony too!
Take care,
