April is the cruelest month, breeding lilacs out of the dead land, mixing memory and desire, stirring dull roots with spring rain. -- T. S. Elliot
My one and only lilac bush is blooming. I want to cut them all and put them in vases, but then they wilt within days. I just have to appreciate them in the garden. Ahhh, but they smell so good next to my bed!
The lilacs are beautiful, Delores. I couldn't help but snip a few!!
Beautiful bush and I can smell them now. Have a great weekend, Delores.
Very beautiful!! Love the smell they give off in a gentle breeze.
So beautiful Dolores! I am also looking forward to have my flowers bloomed! Spring is such a wonderful time of the year!
Thanks for stopping by today!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Dolores, the fragrance of lilacs is intoxicating. How fortunate you are to have a bush of your own. Beautiful photo and quote!
I want to snip a few but MY lilac is now in my neighbours yard as it wasn't getting enough sunlight in mine.
I would still snip some but those friends no longer live there and I don't think the new owners would appreciate it.
Love love love lilacs!1 My Mom has a bush and she brings them in and puts them in a cranberry glass vase. Talk about breath taking, it looks like something from a magazine spread!!Thank you for sharing you lovely lilac bush with us, Kathysue
Aw, go ahead and snip just one to put into a bud vase. Savor the moment while you can aka "Gather ye rosebuds while ye may."
Love lilacs! So beautiful and the smell is divine!
Yes I snip every year some because they have to be sniped anyway to keep a nice form for vases. And you have the smell into the house. Just snip it early in the morning, so they last longer.
Oh, what gorgeous lilacs, I can almost smell them. Lilacs are so beautiful.
I love lilacs! Ours aren't bloomed yet!
I love liliacs and that one is in all it's glory. I've had a lilac for many years and only after another tree died and gave it more sunlight did my lilac start to bloom! I enjoy it so much. Hope yours lingers for awhile!!
How lucky you are to have lilacs!
Lilacs don't seem to like our southern weather and don't usually perform well here, so I'm envious that you have such gorgeous ones. Enjoy and thanks for sharing your photos with us. Have a great weekend.
Delores, You are really making me miss all of the magnificant lilacs I had in Minneapolis .... none in the Oregon high desert!
Oh how I adore Lilacs! If you just cut a few blossoms, and then pound the stems to break the fibers (they will absorb more water and last longer.) I grew up in Germany where the parks are full of lilac bushes. Their scent always reminds me of my mom, gone now for almost 3 years exactly...
Hope you are well. I'm back from my Spring break!Come say hi, and let's plan our shopping trip!

PS Love the TS Elliot. That quote expresses just exactly the way I feel right now!
It's a bit early for lilacs here yet so I will enjoy your vicariously. They are one of my favorite flowers. I have one bush that finally had enough blooms last year to make a real bouquet. I can't wait. Enjoy.
Hi Delores (yes those roses were from my garden!)...have tried to grow white lilacs up here. You're inspiring me to try again. If I can grow peonies... certainly lilacs are possible, no? The smell of lilacs are intoxicating! Thank you, Trish
I think I will go cut some of mine right after this comment... I am so upset about my file, the whole thing is just gone! No one could have done it, I don't know what could have happened. I bet I had 200 images. I really don't think I will continue with my blog, but will continue to visit and comment on others. I just don't have the heart to start over.
They are gorgeous! I am looking forward to having some flowers & plants on my patio when I get some time to take care of that. LOVE having fresh flowers inside ~ just makes me so happy!
Delores, I just love lilacs! And the fragrance is intoxicating! Our lilacs will bloom in May. I can't wait. I going to do a tablescape with them just as soon as they bloom. I'm thinking whites, lilac (purple) and some touches of green. I'm on the lookout for some true purple salad plates, and soft lilac vintage napkins and placemats. I think I'll use the tablescape for a girls brunch. Wouldn't a large centerpiece of lilacs and then little individual milkglass vases look so pretty at each placesetting?
Thanks for sharing your beautiful lilacs. They are very inspiring- as is your lovely blog!
ooh, what a lovely lilac bush! lucky you.
thanks so much for your kind words and advice about my sunroom. i really like the bamboo shades, too, and that is the option i was considering, but i feel like if i am going to only have them up, what is the point of having them?
thanks so much for stopping by the cape on the corner!
I am SO glad you stopped by the Gazebo House this week! I have been looking & looking for your blog ever since my first visit. I failed to bookmark it & could not remember the name. I am now a follower & will gobble up every single post you make. I adore your sense of style & your photograph is inspiring.
Happy Anniversary to your beautiful daughter (the wedding photos are just GORGEOUS!) & contrats to Diana re Glee & the cover story...how cool is that?!
