Before summer ends, I wanted to set a casual table for lunch under the mulberry tree using paper goods, proving that it is possible to set an elegant table with paper plates!
It's hard to believe the "transferware" plate above is a paper plate! Pretty cute, don't you think?
The wooden cutlery even resembles the real thing!
The napkins compliment the toile pattern with the red border nicely. I've been waiting a long time to use them. They were from an estate sale and are "vintage."
With the wind picking up, the mesh domes will keep everything from blowing away.
The place mats are also paper. There are four different Italian scroll patterns on the table, all picking up the black and white of the toile plate.
A few galvanized elements add to the rustic setting.
The Disposable Tablescape:
Placemats: by Cake Vintage "Italian Scroll," NapaStyle
Plates: by Caspari "Festive Toile," Marshalls
Cups: by Caspari "Red Plaid," HomeGoods
Wooden Cutlery: Anthropologie
Mesh Domes: HomeGoods
Napkins: "vintage" from my own collection
I'm joining Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday.
I'm also joining Artie at Color Outside the Lines for Vignette Friday.
hold a spot for me... I'llj be right over... nothing better than a rustic,Napa lunch!! Beautiful!!
It is elegant, eventhough it is paper!
Love those domes, where are they from???

Well that is super cute! A picnic I would adore for sure. Very nice.
Delores, you can even make paper plates look elegant! This is a beautiful table setting. I have the napkins in the pattern of the plates, but your vintage napkins are spectacular. Love the red details for the plates. The wire domes are certainly a nice touch. Great to have for dining alfresco. I need to find some for our dinners on the terrace. Beautifully done! ~ Sarah
That is a beautiful 'disposable' setting in a lovely toile pattern with Italian scroll place mats. Great napkin finds!
Would have loved to see the mulberry tree as well...
Sunny greetings from Georgia,
Those are some very nice paper plates and I have never seen or heard of wooden cutlery. Love the look of it.
Rustic and elegant at the same time, perfect for the outdoor setting....Cleo

This is doing an outside picnic up RIGHT. Everything is perfect and I am loving the pretty napkins..
Isn't it amazing what they do with paper these days? Love this look. Thanks for sharing.
This is gorgeous!
I am so anti paper plate it's not funny. I even have ceramic TV dinner trays for BB-Q's and still use linen napkins.
My girls are always teasing me that when they move out they are going to invite me over for dinner and everything on the table will be disposable. I'm going to show them this post and tell them if it's set like this then they can go ahead.
Love that wood flatware too!
Cute table...love the wood flatware.
This just makes me smile... so cute.
Uh....I'll be right over!
Actually I saw some similar beautiful paper plates like that in Tuesday morning!
I will be there. I get the fastest flight to be with you in that pretty spot.
Everything is gorgeous though, as you know. Looks real!
Have a happy TS...
Greetings from Stockholm,
The view, the setting , just all perfection even with wood and paper! What time is lunch? I want to come, you live in a beautiful area!! I think we need to retire in N. Calif.
Elegant, indeed! Who knew you could find such lovely paper goods?
I can just hear the laughter now as everyone is sitting around that wonderful table enjoying the company, hospitality and food. Love it! I want some of those mesh silver domes. Got to check out HomeGoods. We have a new one that is "kind of" close to me. :) I am delighted you came to visit me and hope to see you often. Have a wonderful weekend. ~ Lynn
Delores, What a pretty table and it's hard to believe it is disposable! Love the placemats, plates and napkins and the mesh domes are wonderful.
Oh, what a beautiful table you've set! Who would know that all these pretties are throw aways! :)
Love it all.
Be a sweetie,
know what i love about you ...
you have all the little extras!!
Your table looks just as elegant as can be. As much as I love my dishes, I also love pretty paper napkins and plates too.
Nice table...love it!
Love the 'transferware' plates and the napkins are awesome! ;-) I'd love to find some of those! I love the mesh domes too and the cutlery is adorable!
I adore Caspari products! Have you been to their store in Paris on Rue Jacob. It's a "MUST DO" for your Parisian travels!
Very cute! You have such a talent! Have you ever posted about a Halloween table setting before? I would love to see your take on that particular holiday. :-)
Gorgeous tablesetting with paper and yes, very elegant. How can you miss with toile. I love toile's and use them in my house a lot. I do keep at all times the black/white toile cocktail napkins, as the same Caspari plates that you have used. Love those mesh domes too. I will be on the look out for some of those. Here in N FL we often do outdoor evening garden parties when we have less humidity. You have shared some great ideas for outdoor entertaining.

Hola Delores, a wonderful tablescape and those paper place mats are so great and beautiful!!
I love it all! There are times when paper plates really fit the bill. I adore toile and love everything about this table scape, especially the mesh domes and the wooden cutlery.
I have to say, this is the most lovely and elegant disposable setting I've ever seen!
Do you know, this is just brilliant! I've been around the "tablesetting" block a few times but never had even conceived of something so cute and so EASY! Do you know what else? =] As I got into the post, I just stopped thinking of it all as paper and started just enjoying the beautiful textures and colors and style of the table. EVERYTHING on it is, well, adorable (in a chic way) and perfectly compliments the whole. I could go on.....
Kudos to you for making something so elegant and with that jaw drop factor - out of paper plates of all things!
I just had to go and look through it all again. It's like something out of a magazine. Very fun! =]
So glad you posted all your 2010 tables so I got to see this! Paper???? Really???? You make it look so elegant! Your VIEW is the BEST!!!!! XO, Pinky
