Hall Trees, Always Lending a Helping Hand!

The hall tree is one of those pieces of furniture that never goes out of style. Whether greeting your guests in a grand entryway, or holding your boots in the mudroom, the hall tree is an essential piece of furniture that just "keeps on giving."

There are so many styles and configurations of hall trees, but my favorite is vintage faux bamboo.
This hall tree lives on a veranda holding hats and scarves.

This one sits in a living room and holds the owner's collection of hats from Viet Nam. It is a lovely faux bamboo piece and fits right in as a decorative piece. This room was designed by one of my favorite designers, Lynn Von Kersting. She seems to like hall trees in her decor as much as I do.

This antique piece is doing it's duty in a small cottage. Although there is no entry, this hall tree establishes the feel of an entry, especially with it's "open arms."

This is our hall tree on the stair landing last spring when I posted about our entry here.
I've had this piece for over 20 years and it has always found a place in our homes. I even put it in a bathroom in a previous house. It held towels on the bottom shelf and I hung my necklaces on the hooks.

Not all hall trees need to be antique. In fact, there are some really cool contemporary ones out there that are very functional and attractive like this one from Pottery Barn. I love this!

Restoration Hardware has this version of a hall tree that would look wonderful either in a mud room or an entry. It comes in several sizes.

Another contemporary hall tree/storage bench. Perfect for a young family. Shoes can be stored in the bench, coats on the hooks. Organized! Hmmm, I think my daughter could use this....

Would a hall tree fit in your home? Do you need a little extra help keeping your home organized and uncluttered? Front door, back door, bathroom, even the laundry room, a hall tree might be your solution.

Here is one last shot of my hall tree, taken today. Notice the little cow picture?
More on that later.....

I LOVE these bamboo trees...I have been searching for one for my long, NARROW entry.
In fact, I have a post in draft about them...:)
I love YOUR pretty halltree, too.
I love EVERYthing in your whole entire house, including the house.:)

These are very neat, Delores. Something for everyone! We have a Pottery Barn version in our mud room, sort of like the black one you've shown. I use it for everything but coats!!

Yours is lovely and I love the third one down in the pictures from the top. I do like the faux bamboo ones because they are so open and seem to take up less space, visually. I have a hall tree, more for decorative purposes than functional, but it is more "solid" lookin and visually takes up space. It would definitely be a handy piece if I was short on space and needed a place to hang jackets or hats. Maybe when we down-size!

I so agree that a hall tree is a little workhorse. Yours is wonderful and as always it sits in the perfect spot in your home. I forgot how much I love your green walls, they are PERFECTION!!!

Delores, those are great hall trees. I love the layer they add to a room. Yours is really nice. What I like about your entry is the settee with the grain sacks and that leopard or cheetah runner up the stairs.

Delores, you and BJ are on the same page today. Both of you posted about hall trees, and BJ's faux bamboo specific. Great minds! ;-)

We have a hang rack, but no tree. They are definitely a great piece to own.
Have a great weekend. ~ Sarah

Dearest Delores,

Your personal hall tree is my favorite! That created a lovely landing near your entry.

Hi Delores,
I've loved faux bamboo furniture since I was very young! It reminds me of days gone by, travels to exotic places etc. etc...
Your entry is so nice, love the wall color and of course the hall tree is fab. I had a metal one, but my hubby hated it - said it was too cluttered with the hats and coats and umbrellas. So, now it's used in the master bath, to hang our towels on. One of these days I'll sneak it back out in the hall!
Hey, I bought a BIG CLOCK today. $14. Beat that!

Hall trees seem to be pieces of furniture that get almost no respect ... the ones you have shared look wonderful! Mine is in a narrow spot in the living room beside our foyer. If I could get the husband to put his baseball caps somewhere else, it would be perfect.

Hi Delores, How are you doing? I'll bet you've been out enjoying your beautiful view in this wonderful cool Fall weather!

Very inspirational post, I could certainly use a hall tree in my closet!

Thanks for sharing,
Hugs, Sherri:)

Delores,

Love this post...I don't have a hall tree but now I will start looking as I'm out shopping...I think I could use one as a potting bench if I found the right style. The photographs are beautiful and what a variety of styles. I do like the faux bambo too! I have two china cabinets that are in that style. I love your green walls behind the hall tree as well!
Happy Autumn days!!
