A Few of My Favorite Florentine Windows

Looking up, there are so many windows or finestras. Most of them remain shuttered, but I'm on the lookout for the pretty ones. Windows that have been decorated with plants or beautiful curtains. Windows that speak to me, like the one above.

And this funky window with the ivy climbing up and around.

A lovely arrangement in a window box looks quite elegant in front of this ancient window.

A winning combination: stone and flowers!

What a surprise to look up and see this window at night with the celestial painted ceiling!

Back to my favorite window and balcony.
There is so much inspiration here, and it's nice to slow down and really take it all in. When we traveled before, we were always on the go. This time, we are just relaxing and enjoying our stay. Also, having a camera forces me to see what I might not have noticed before--like these beautiful windows!

I'm joining Laurie at Bargain Hunting With Laurie for Favorite Things Saturday!

Dearest Delores,

You are really enjoying the Florentine area; one can tell.
Those cyclamen all over on the lovely balconies are gorgeous. I remember too well when we were living in the Veneto area that they were everywhere...

Enjoy this precious time with your son and travel home safely! Sunny greetings from Georgia,

Flowers on and around windows are one of the charming things about much of Europe! I am always inspired to come home and pretty things up! And did you see those dainty lace window coverings? And the clever shutters that hinge open from the bottom? Amazing and beautiful. Enjoy your time with your son! We did the visit the college girl in Europe last year and the traveling is very different--more time to feel like you are living there. Linda

When done well they really are works of art.
I find locally we don't really get it here and the window boxes have some sad, sunburned plant in a small dried out pot sitting in a broken down wooden box. They drive me crazy when I see them.

I have always loved pictures of windows and of doors. I had a poster for many years that had pictures of windows AND one that had pictures of doors.

The last one is my favorite too. Hope you are truly savoring every moment of your holiday! xxoo Diana

You got some great shots of those beautiful windows. I love the flower boxes and railing. When we were over there and traveling around Italy I started noticing all the beautiful doors and took pictures of those and then framed three of them then when my Italian daughter in law is at our house she can see a little of Italy.

I am new to your blog and have been enjoying it so much. I was so excited to see these photos! My son and his girl are getting married next October and going to Florence for their honeymoon! It is a dream of mine to see Tuscany some day, not sure it will happen, but at least I can help send my son to Italy and see it through his eyes. He is just starting his photography portfolio and has a great eye ~ so this will be heaven for him. My favorite pictures are of european windows, so your post was just eye candy for me ~
