Cuckoo for Kubu!

I'm cuckoo for kubu wicker these days! So much so, that I searched high and low, at every Cost Plus in the Bay Area for these chairs because Cost Plus has decided to discontinue them! I eventually found six.

Priced at $150 each, they are quite a bargain. The same chair is at Pottery Barn on sale for $280.

I really like how these chairs changed the entire look and feel of the kitchen dining area, lending texture and a rustic element.

Inspired by the new look, I re-staged the tabletop with this succulent arrangement, found at the antiques show Sunday and added a rustic vintage grain sack runner.

Thank you Joni from Cote de Texas for giving me the incentive to finally buy these chairs! You can read her post here. The problem with these chairs, is that I could put them everywhere. Inside and outside. Everywhere!
It's probably a good thing that they're being discontinued!

I LOVE these chairs and it's a good thing for me they are being discontinued! Between you and JONI, I have been having to hold myself back from buying them!! Love, love, love your table setting looking out to the pool and I am crazy for your old metal box filed with succulents! Great find at the antique show!!!

I love your chairs and they look fabulous at your breakfast room taable. I would like to ask you about the succulent arrangement. I really like the rustic container and I am assuming that it is wooden (it looks like it is) but I was wondering if the succulents were planted directly into the planter with a liner of some kind and pebbles in the bottom? Or are they just individually potted with a liner under each pot? That is a fabulous look so I am now on the lookout for an elongated rustic planter. I always get some of the most wonderful ideas from your blog. Thank you so much for sharing your ideas.

I think the chairs look great at your table but they do look really crowded down the side and would be nicer with only three down the side instead of four. But you can't help how many people you need to seat in your family! Ha!
Even though they look REALLY great and appropriate in your place (probably the best and most appropriate setting I've seen them in on any blog I read) I still don't really get what all the hoopla all over the blog world is about these chairs. They've been around in inexpensive import stores, dorm rooms, garage sales, and places like Pier One since probably the sixties. You would think they're the greatest thing since sliced bread. What in the heck am I missing here???
That being said (asked) I will reconfirm that in your house, with all of your stuff and decor, they look better than I've ever seen.

Isn't it odd that they would discontinue such a popular item. I saw Joni's post on these and it even made me want some and now you are making me think I Have!! to have some. I don't even know where I would put them, too funny!! Love yours and they are absolutely perfect for your home!!!KS

Why would they discontinue them - they look good and are so comfortable, durable, light to move...

A good haul for you Delores!

I'm curious where does the name come from? The type wicker or a company name?

Like Kathysue, I want some! And I don't have a spot for them either. ;-) We have wicker on our sun porch already, but I sure do like this style. ~ sarah

Hi Delores!

Now here is a weird question...Why is it that when a retailer finally hits on something good they decide to discontinue it?

I bought 4 of these chairs a while back and some larger similar chairs from halo styles. They all just seem to match no matter where you get them.

As usual your table is wonderful!

Love, LOVE, Love it...we are planning on a similar vignette in the sunroom with an Italian style eating table just like this. You'll have to email me the dimensions of your table shown.

Smiling @ all ur succulent displays at the homes inside and out...rn't they the best especially during the warmer months and so draught tolerant. Go Feng Shui planters! :))

BTW...OUR JOANN'S IN SO CAL DONT HAVE THE COOL FAUX ROCK PLANTERS, IM SO BUMMED!

I love your new look! The planter with the wooden candlestick gives it just the right rustic appeal. That was quite a bargain price for the chairs!

I have been reading Cote de Texas and about the Kobu chairs, too! Your breakfast area looks gorgeous. I love the texture the chairs add; I just may have to consider them myself.
