What is with this weather? It's the end of June and raining like it's January!
It's too rainy to go outside and garden, so I decided to stay inside and play with my new dishes.
They were a recent flea market purchase, "Olde English Countryside" by Johnson Bros. and the inspiration for my tablescape today.
The scene depicts a lovely summer cottage garden, but it looks like a rainy day in the English countryside too!
Wicker chargers and bamboo flatware keep it summery.
I used my purple wine glasses, thrifted from Salvation Army and my new "Bienvenue" water glasses from Timeless Settings, a sponsor of Vignette Design.
The centerpiece was found at the flea market too. An old metal planter filled with succulents!
The numbered linen napkins are from Pottery Barn, last year.
The grain sack runner grounds the table with texture and its neutral caramel colored stripe.
A rainy, summer day in June tablescape!
I'm joining Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday.
Be sure to visit to see more tablescapes and hopefully, some real summer inspiration, including Independence Day themes.
I also want to thank Artie at Color Outside the Lines for his Tuesday Inspiration post on me.
His blog is one of my favorites and I never miss his posts, so to be featured by him is quite an honor for me.

It looks beautiful, Delores! Love the old planter as well as the dishes & setting. We have had way too much rain too! xo Diana
ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING!!!!!!!!!!! Might I say that is one of the pretties tables I have seen in a long time, love your wicker chargers and Johnson brother china (have it too in blue and white) That is totally magazine worthy and in fact prettier than many I see in magazines. Beautiful job and don't you think the rainy day actually makes it feel cozier? Something about that makes me feel that way......
I love your rainy day table...the centerpiece is fabulous.
Congrats! Your blog and you deserve the accolades bestowed upon you for sure. I love your new dishes. They do remind me of a rainy day. The runner is perfect down the center. Your succulents are looking much better than mine!!! I think I water too much. The purple goblets are perfect to bring out the color in the dishes. Very lovely, many blessings, marlis
Rainy or sunny, this tablescape is perfect! I love the succulents!
Beautiful!!! Love it all! Those dishes make me drool.... But where did you get those candlesticks????
Hi D, I just went to Arties blog and saw the post featuring your homes. It was so fun to see the line-up of images. It made me fall in love with your home all over again!!!
Rain, oh my , crazy, thunder and lightning and I was out in it in walking shorts and flip-flops, can you say, Not dressed for winter because it is JUNE!! Crazy, but your tablescape is a nice reward we get from you being stuck inside so I guess it is worth it, after all. So lovely and I absolutely love the dishes and your new centerpiece, it is so YOU!! xo Kathysue
I love this tablescape...the pattern is beautiful! You are getting all of the rain, and where I live we are under a burn and water ban, with temps expected to be in the 100's. Is this weather crazy or what?
Once again, you outdo yourself! I love the new china! It is something I would love to have too! We had rain all day yesterday here in Pa. but today it is HOT and SUNNY! I have been TRYING to do my tablescape post but blogger won't let me upload my pics right now:( I love the runner, and your eating area is so beautiful. Being able to see the pool right out the window is wonderful! I love your succulents. Now whenever I see succulents, I think of YOU!!!! XO, Pinky
I agree with Tina - rainy days make a meal cozier, but then again I am from Oregon. :) I LOVE what you did here - the chargers, the bit of purple in those great "salvaged" glasses and the succulents - divine! Beautiful job. You have so much talent! :)
Delores, you inspired me to start looking for Johnson Bros. dishes and I got lucky a few weeks aqo and found some dessert plates and fruit bowls in the pattern "The Friendly Village". They don't go with anything I collect but I love them anyway! Your tablescape is lovely! Love how the succulent planter brings out the hint of green in the pattern on the dishes! I am always in awe of how many different types of dishes and glassware you have to create your arrangements with. Thanks for the inspiration on a dreary day. Cindy
Hi Delores,
Your tablescapes are my favorites..this one is no exception...They just pick up my spirits on a rainy day....or for that matter, sunny too! Thank you for your regular posts, you are awesome. Blessings to You! Sharon
Lovely tablescape, lovely pool and I have a wine cellar with nothing in it yet because I don't know what to do down there....thanks for the inspiration I might get on that project after my master bath is done!

i made chicken pot pie and cookies, felt like a winters day with comfort food, would never, ever think to make such a heavy meal in summer! 101 degrees this weekend, the cold rain was a nice diversion...
What a gorgeous table setting! I love everything about it. Looks like it could be straight out of an upmarket decor magazine! Hope your weather improves. It is raining here too, but we are in the middle of winter so it's OK. x Sharon
