Romantic Picnic Ideas

Côté Est
This is the time of year for alfresco dining and moveable feasts.
I love the idea of packing a picnic and heading to the beach, the river, or even the park!
The photo above is my favorite picnic idea. Pure fantasy!

Picnic at Ascot
I've gathered more picnic idea photos to inspire you to haul out your basket and make some potato salad!

Campagne Decoration
This one was the inspiration for my failed attempt to picnic by the river.
Just add the trout!

How Romantic!

One of my favorite romantic picnic settings was this one styled by Julio of Beaux Mondes Designs. Set up at the base of an old elm tree in the park, he even brought the Waterford Crystal!

Country Living
But not all picnics need to be enjoyed on the ground. This 1958 Nash Rambler gives new meaning to the term, "moveable feast!" Hence, the All-American tailgate picnic!

Not all picnics have to include the proverbial potato salad either.
A little cheese, a little fruit, wine and thou!

Country Home
So haul out your picnic basket and pray for warmer weather!
It looks like more rain is on the way, but in the meantime, I'm dreaming of a romantic moveable feast.

Thinking of our daughter Ashley, who is celebrating her 25th birthday today.
My free spirit, she is on the road today, to a new adventure in Taos.
Wish her luck!

Husband and I didn't have much money when we first got married. We would pack a picnic in our picnic basket and go visit a national park in Oregon(where we lived at the time) and have a picnic. Great day off. Thanks for sharing these fabulous baskets and picnics.

Delores, these images are divine. There's nothing quite like a picnic, is there? My favorite is the old station wagon. I could just jump right into that picture right now and be happy! It looks so quiet and peaceful.

ciao!

You're just the best! Thank you for the lyrics/link. I listened to Pavarotti and many others singing that awesome Neapolitan Sorrento song all day yesterday!
;)
And, I'm on the look out for a fabulous picnic basket just like some of these you've shown!

Hugs,
Lana

Delores, I adore picnics. I still have the wicker picnic basket that my dad gave to me the year I left home to attend the university. It's small and not as fancy as ones outfitted today, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. ;-)
Great inspiration photos. And I most definitely wish Ashley all the best on hr 25th. Taos is a delightful area. ~ Sarah

Picnics are a great year round tradition! I just love all the crative and beautiful picnics you shared! Julio's picnic is so memorable I was in awe the frist time he posted it!
I live where the summers can be opressive and humid. My favorite time of year to picnic is spring and fall.
Wonderful and creative... I am carrying away some very good ideas.

We love going on picnics by a big gorgeous river that runs thru the town where we live and I have a beautiful English picnic basket we bought so many years ago to go to the mountains for lunch with my girls. I must admit we haven't gone to one in 4 years! I want to make one to share with you all. I'm loving your post! Thanks. Enjoy the weekend. FABBY

I agree, the best picnics are just a bottle of wine, some cheese and bread.

Beautiful pictures!
